DA clears Ramsey family By The Denver Post Article Last Updated: 07/09/2008 01:44:05 PM MDT
The Boulder District Attorney's Office announced today that new DNA evidence discovered in the clothing worn by JonBenet Ramsey identifies "the perpetrator of the homicide" and excludes all members of the murdered girl's family.
District Attorney Mary Lacy said in a letter posted on the DA's website and first reported by Paula Woodward of 9News that the Ramsey family "be treated only as victims," and she apologized to them.
Six-year-old JonBenét was discovered Dec. 26, 1996, with a garrote around her neck in the basement of her parents' Boulder home.
No one has ever been charged in her death, Boulder police once said "an umbrella of suspicion" was over her parents, Patsy and John Ramsey.
Tabloids pointed the finger at their son, Burke Ramsey, who was 9 when his sister was killed.
But today, in a letter to John Ramsey, Lacy said her office wantwd "to state that we do not consider your immediate family, including you, your wife, Patsy, and your son, Burke, to be under any suspicion in the commission of this crime.
"I wish we could have done so before Mrs. Ramsey died."
Patsy Ramsey died June 26, 2006, of ovarian cancer at age 49.
Lacy's office took over the investigation into JonBenet's death in December 2002. Last year, Lacy attended a National Institute of Justice program on forensic Biology and DNA that introduced her to a new techology called "touch DNA," she said in the release.
"Forensic scientists scrape a surface where there is no observable stain or other indication of possible DNA in an effort to recover for analysis any genetic material that might nonetheless be present. This methodology was not well known in this country until recently and is still used infrequently," she said.
At the end of last year her office opted to work with Bode Technology Group near Washington, D.C., on the Ramsey case.
on a mixed blood stain on her underwear.....
Senior moment!
This is just beyond the stink test. I doubt they ran the DNA against EVERY single person that came into contact with this evidence.
Well, then, what about the handwriting analysis? (I’m late to the party—I never followed the Ramsey story.)
He was a successful and wealthy businessman, a Republican and his wife and daughter were involved in beauty pageants.
Enough for democrats in power to assume they were totally evil.
John might be a RINO. However, John is very tightly connected with Boulder County If Patsy and John were Republicans in Boulder County
they would have been indicted and convicted.

Many have been ZOTTED for a lot less. You don't seem to be familiar with the politics of Boulder County. Review the FACTS in post 64, before you call people names.
This came within a hair's breadth of happening.
Lou Smit went to the previous DA and a local Sheriff with his evidence (which the DA wouldn't allow) which convinced them that the Ramsays were being unfairly persecuted.
They collaborated with him to force his evidence to be seen; this kept the Ramsays from having to appear before the grand jury which would have indicted them without Smit's evidence. Smit had investigated 200 murder cases and was very thorough with his evidence, unlike the publicity hounds at the police dept who didn't care about evidence. They just wanted to indict the Republicans.
Now that's an interesting theory. I hadn't thought about that. Maybe more directed toward the son than the father though. Think there was a thought that Burke may have been jealous of JonBenet, and may have killed her.
Stating the exact amount of the bonus is the one thing I don't think can ever be explained without incriminating either a member of the family or a very close friend.
Your links in post #64 are not clear cut.
What are you trying to imply with that info?

The bottom of the barrel.
Ramsey Press Release (excerpt)
DNA clears JonBenet Ramsey’s family
The unexplained third party DNA on the clothing of the victim is very significant and powerful evidence. It is very unlikely that there would be an innocent explanation for DNA found at three different locations on two separate items of clothing worn by the victim at the time of her murder.
This is particularly true in this case because the matching DNA profiles were found on genetic material from inside the crotch of the victims underwear and near the waist on both sides of her long johns, and because concerted efforts that might identify a source, and perhaps an innocent explanation, were unsuccessful. My opinion has not changed!
Thanks for the ping!
I agree. My first thought after reading this article was, what am I missing? Since when does the presence of DNA in three places suddenly translate to proof of a lone perp?
What are you trying to imply with that info?
I suppling some facts before you rush to judgment.I'm not trying to imply anything.
From what I heard, the newly-detected DNA was on JB’s clothing, including her underwear.
The "facts" you are trying to point out are vague. All you have done is list a couple of links which contain a hodge podge of people and personalities.
It's better to state what you are trying to say clearly if you want to convince others that you have some kind of point.
you rush to judgment.
What makes you think I'm rushing? I've cited more facts in my post than you have.
Biggest clue? THE HANDWRITING DIDN'T MATCH!
This was a case of the media convicting an innocent couple. Even freepers who usually have common sense fell for that BS.
They didn't do it. If you look past the myths, and there are many, (example: the footprint in the snow that never existed), you will see a police department who was the most incompetent police department ever. They were convinced the Ramseys did it before that poor girl was even in the ground. That is why they threatened to keep her body until the parents agreed to more interviews. All the parents wanted to do at that point was bury their daughter.
Let a police department threaten to keep my child's body and see how cooperative I would be. I frankly would never speak to them again.
The Ramseys hired the best investigator Colorado had, Lou Smit, and he went in with both eyes open. He said they didn't do it.
Goodness, all that pesky evidence, just ignore it!
It was the police who were the incompetents in this case. Bungling bozos, the whole lot of them.
IIRC, her handwriting was inconclusive.
BINGO! They probably believe the earth is flat too! Who gives a damn about evidence!
