Try a little thought experiment. What would have happened in this country during the Cold War if the Soviet Union successfully neutralized anti-communists opposed to the Kremlins plans for world domination?
Of course, Moscow strove to discredit those in America and elsewhere who opposed its totalitarian agenda especially after Sen. Joseph McCarthys excesses made it fashionable to vilify patriots by accusing them of believing communists were under every bed.

What if I still think there are commies under every bed in Hollywood, the DNC (and some RINOs), College and Universities, Judges on the bench, and under our media's bed too?
And may I add: Unlike the communists, however, adherents to this ideology are making extraordinary strides in Western societies toward criminalizing those who dare oppose the Islamist end-state
This is not part of our Western Culture. It is built into us that we have the right to question authority. We are to resist when our freedoms become threatened as well.
And may I add that the real criminals are those who kill Christians in Sudan, Hindus in Kashmir, and Jews in Israel.
Reading Evan's Blacklisted By History now, I'm wondering what those excesses are that Gaffney has in mind.

Islamic law does not promote tolerance and diversity. It acknowledges 2 worlds. Muslim land and that of the kufir.
It is imperialist. When land becomes “muslim territory”, it is always claimed. The jihadists want Spain back, not just Israel.
What if they come over here and buy land and set up a mosque? Is that land considered Muslim territory and they will always have a right to claim it now (in their mind)?
That explains Obama's "57 state" Freudian slip.
He liked to drink. Amazing! Being from Wisconsin, I can surmise that he wasn’t alone in that. Apparently he wasn’t a pleasant drunk. A recent discussion about the book took place at Amazon, and of course, those who like to criticize tried desperately to change the question....the question is still, indeed, were there really Communists in government being sheltered there by the administrations? Anyone who likes to think that’s not the question is suspect, in my opinion.
The book may be about McCarthy, but it says much more about Truman, Ike, and everyone else who diverted attention away from the substance of what McCarthy was presenting to meaningless minutia.

I had just read Witness when I got this one. Read it in my Kindle. After that, I got another - Three New Deals, that cemented for me an atmosphere that was prevalent back then. Hayek wrote about it in Road to Serfdom as well, but these books put together describe an atmosphere....since Reagan, we haven’t really been sliding, sinking in quite that way. We need another conservative as strong as Reagan to change the current tone. It’s too squishy and dangerous in this era of jihad. We talk of the center having gone too far left, but it’s beginning to look to me like it was too far left back then. Sorry to hear about Sharon’s mom...hope all will be well. Ciao for now
