It may well fall on that as well. Courts do not like it when two parties enter into an agreement, however well drafted, to pretend that a dog is a refrigerator.

“Spado and Watson spent several weeks each summer at Watson’s home at her family’s compound on North Haven”
Why do these rich liberals typically live in “compounds” ?

A perfect illustration of why so many super-wealthy (not just super-rich) favor socialism/communism -- laws and courts that rule the masses would all be reduced to trifling significance, if any factor at all, for them.
I did not read the article and this is not a comment on Ms Watson.
There's got to be a reason why so many wealthy and beyond are cool with communism -- all the money in the world ain't enough?

If you adopt your lover, isn’t it incest if you then have sex with them?

In Watson Jr.'s book he told about a speech he'd given to a gathering of IBM's most successful salesmen. The net was he pushed wealth resdistribution and his speech went over like a fart in church. He later figured out that people who worked like dogs all year to be successful would rather keep what they earned than have some spoiled brat tell them they need to give it to others.
Watson Jr.'s life sounds a lot like the Kennedy's. He didn't have good grades due to laziness so his father used his substantial influence to get him into one.
Personal note: I bought the book because I was wondering how anyone in business could have supported Bill Clinton for President. The book made the answer obvious; they were fellow socialists.

The adoption was annulled but, it would seem, Watson’s clear intent was for Spado to share in the inheritance. Shouldn’t her wishes be honored?

“Shouldnt her wishes be honored?”
Abdo-lutey not! It was a scheme to defraud the rightful heirs. Watson is not dead. Speedo has no legitimate claim. Watson just wanted to set up her lover. What a sicko ploy!

The adoption was annulled but, it would seem, Watsons clear intent was for Spado to share in the inheritance. Shouldnt her wishes be honored? At the expense of the rightful heirs? This ain't a case of deciding who gets Mom's china cupboard - we are talking serious bucks here.

Why do these rich liberals typically live in compounds Because it sounds so much nicer than "institution." (Which is where most of them belong.)

After the adoption, if they continue to have sexual relations, aren’t they violating incest laws?
