An Open Letter to Obama and Campaign
Me | July 7, 2008 | RetSignman

Posted on 07/07/2008 9:03:51 AM PDT by RetSignman

There is an ongoing debate on Free Republic as to the legitimacy of your birth certificate posted on your website and on Kos. It is a spirited debate with people on both sides of the issue, some support the document as being a legitimate copy and others have pointed out the errors in detail.

We know you and your campaign have to be aware of this on going debate because this controversy is not limited to Free Republic; the debate is an issue on many other sites foreign and domestic.

To put this debate to rest takes little effort on you and your campaign by supplying a verifiable hard copy of your birth certificate to the public.

It is mystifying to many why you and your campaign have not done this before to squelch the rumors because your hesitancy has now become to look like stalling and just furthering the speculation.

There are some who speculate that it is deliberate move by you and your campaign to let this issue fester to keep Free Republic and other sites espousing theories which, in the end, will hurt the credibility and paint it’s members as conspiratorial, in nature. IF this is the agenda by you and your campaign, it would be ill advised because there is ample evidence that the documentation of your birth certificate has been shown to be suspicious, at the very least.

We are asking you to provide the very basic of requirements outlined in the Constitution, that you meet the eligibility to hold the office as President of the United States.

End this debate and speculation now by supplying irrefutable evidence of your origin and all this controversy will be put to rest and we can begin to debate issues instead of mystery and suppositions.

The ball is in your park.

[All politicians lie. Every single last one of them.]

So what do you find attractive about Free Republic? It’s a POLITICAL site, must be you are here to try debunk ANY theories about ANYTHING political.

I’m glad you are not on our Neighborhood Crime Watch team, you’d never see anything suspicious.

You have to cut through the web of lies to get to certain political truths. That’s all part of having an interest in politics.

My post was in reponse to a post that Obama’s lie about being a muslim was a major issue, not because he was a muslim, but because he lied about it. I don’t see his lie as a major issue, because all politicians lie. I don’t see whether or not he was a muslim as being that big of an issue.

Maybe it’s better to say that his lying about being a muslim is a subset of one of the much larger issues identified in post #10. Specifically, he throws his religion under the bus because he sees it as “politically expedient.” If people believe he’s a muslim, it will cost him votes. So he’ll lie about it. Just like he throws all the other “embarssments” of his past under the bus.

But to get back to the original issue, yes, I believe all politicians lie. It’s what they lie about as much as what they are truthful about that defines whether or not you can support them.

[I bet that this is a nonstarter.]

Judging from the snarky remarks I’ve received, you are probably right, I might as well be posting on the DU.

No concerns about the Constitution evident here.

[A lot of good, valid reasons]

I guess you don’t consider what could be the overriding of the Constitution not being among them.

IF he were elected president without the scrutiny of his origins, a precedent would be set that this country will never recover from.

[It’s what they lie about...]

I consider the ambiguous and questionable document presented as his birth certificate as a ‘visual lie’, unless it is cleared up and put to rest.

My concerns are about The Constitution and the ramifications if it is overridden or ignored.

Thanks for the link. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I wished I lived in Honolulu Hawaii as I WOULD go checking on records.

Aren't there any Hawaiian Freepers out there who could do this?
