I had not caught up until today with this apparent controversy over whether the Hawaii birth certificate proffered by Obama's campaign is a forgery and whether there are legitimate questions about whether he was born in the United States — if he wasn't, he almost certainly would not be qualified under the Constitution and relevant immigration statutes to be president. Our Jim Geraghty seemed to pooh-pooh the birth certificate controversy about a week ago, but according to the above cited report (at a site called DougRoss@Journal) and a new one from Israeli Insider, there are new developments, and the Obama campaign appears to be stonewalling. Shouldn't it be a fairly easy matter to prove he was born in Hawaii if he really was? Why wouldn't Obama just end this quickly?
Is there anything to this?
ADDENDUM: I should add to the above that I am not a conspiracy theorist. My predisposition on the many stories floating around about Obama and his circle is to ignore them on the following theory: If there was really anything to this or that, the Clintons would have found it and gotten their media friends all over it. This story about Obama's eligibility puzzles me because (a) it is so basic, (b) it should be so easy to prove the relevant facts of his birth, (c) the Obama campaign's response to the story is bizarre, and (d) it seems to be getting worse rather than resolved.

I agree with you on that. There is a lot we should know about the candidates that is hidden.
Can’t anyone request an official copy of his birth certificate? It’s just a simple public record, isn’t it?
I’ve been able to get copies of the birth certificates of all my children, my parents and my deceased grandparents just for the asking and a nominal fee.
The artist’s mark: Andre the Giant’s face in a star. “OBEY”. The Giant poster is just skateboarder art, and the same artist has done the famous Obama posters as well. Not marxism, just marketable art for the skateboarder market.
Perhaps someone would redact a certification number because someone else may have the same number.
Just a thought.
One more point. Thus far, Obama’s candidacy has done everything EXCEPT improve race relations in our country. He will never be able to undo the damage he has caused by his own words in his released books, not to mention the racist church he attended for over 20 years and his completely racist supporters who are using his candidacy to further their hate filled causes - Louis Farrakhan, Hamas, various U.S. state communists organizations to name just a few.
And the biggest irony of his anti-white racist supporters is the fact that he, himself, is leading the greatest racist genocide against his own, black race - through his stance on ABORTION - which incredibly, is massacring blacks at a rate 3-times that of the overall rate in the US. There has never been a more radically pro-death candidate for the POTUS in our country's history! Yes - he'd rather tap into “black politics” align himself with the black democrats in this country, who support the ethnic cleansing of their own people at 3X the national rate through abortion. If he was any kind of a real man, he would throw this ugly truth back in the faces of these black racist leaders who are using this misery in the black population for their own, destructive quest for power. This incredible deception perfectly demonstrates the meaning of the phrase - “Intrinsically Evil”
I certainly mean that disqualifying Obama on these grounds at this time would tear the country apart and shouldn't be attempted.
I'm far less certain about motives but my gut feeling is that I'm right.
You can apply that to other liberals as you choose.

I think that is part of the thinking of not voting for McCain even if it means Obabma gets in. (Better to go up in a kitchen fire rather than being slowing boiled like a frog in the pot of water.)

I suppose it’s always possible that the Obama campaign is pulling a fast one, but if that’s the case, it’s a pretty dumb one.
I mean, what are they going to do. Pull the BC out of a hat, and say...hah hah, fooled ya?
What kind of birth certificate did he produce to get a passport when he travelled to Iraq in 2006 and to Kenya where he campaigned for his cousin? Did he use an American passport? If he did he had to produce a birth certificate.
My position is to not make a fuss about what is IN the birth certificate, and instead make a big fuss about why Obama won’t even release his birth certificate.
That way, we can beat on him mercilessly on his profound secrecy, and they best Obama can do is to give IN to our demands and release the document. Then if there is nothing we can ask why Obama felt it was so important to hide “nothing” from the people he claims to believe in.
If he was born in Kenya, as his father’s first wife claims, he may be eligible for dual citizenship. If he was born in Kenya was his birth registered there and then registered in HI? Just adding fuel to the fire.
Maybe Obama wants everyone to fuss about his birth certificate. If he has one from this country, he might not produce it until after the convention. He can use it as a publicity stunt. If he doesn’t have one, the Clintons probably know and have a plan in the works for Hillary.
Was his mother actually married when she gave birth to the Obama child?
