Syria is ready to break off its close links with Iran if America gives it financial and military backing, a former Israeli diplomat involved in unofficial peace talks has revealed to The Sunday Telegraph.

According to the offical, who has been engaged in low-key "second track" discussions with Syrian representatives for many months, Syria's President Bashar Assad is increasingly open to a deal which would greatly weaken Iranian influence in the region.

Alon Liel, a former director of Israel's foreign ministry, said the prospect of a peace agreement with Syria was growing, though it might require a new American president before a deal could be agreed. Syria's support for radical groups including Palestinian Hamas and Lebanese Hizbollah, both also backed by Iran, has played a large part in fomenting trouble in the Middle East...

Equivocating Christians with Muslim historical excess and a said propensity of violence is intellectually dishonest.

it usually just belies a rejection and contempt for Christianity

You do know that the Syrian Christians will be slaughtered & what’s left of them reduced to jizyah-paying serfs as soon as the Alawi are removed from power?

The real point is that half the globe now recognizes that all men are created equal in the eyes of their creator.

liberals have twisted the old boy's words to mean equal capabilities which should in theory result in equal outcomes which as conservatives and realists we know to be rubbish.

I can throw out your whole post because you said Christians were burning their own. That’s not true since they were clearly burning wiccans and others that weren’t Christian.

Why you coming at me with this liberal crap? Because I don’t believe all Muslims are terrorists?

You better come up with alot better than that. I personally know Muslims that have bled for America in Iraq.. Who do you know? Huh? I didn’t think so.

So unless you can prove to me the man I knows secretly wants to blow up Christians(even though he’s going back to Iraq to work for our country again) then you need to quit sounding off like someone who has NO clue what he is even talking about.

If you bothered to read my post which you clearly didn’t I mentioned the fact that Christianity’s past pales in comparison to the evils in the name of being a Muslim.

However it is unfair of you to not equate what Christian people’s are capable of. Nazi Germany for example was as religious as any Western nation and allowed themselves to fall hook, line, and sinker for Hitler.

Was killing the American Indian Christian like? Just because it wasn’t waged in the name of God doesn’t mean it wasn’t war all the same? What about the American Civil War. Whether it be for “slavery” or “states right” both the South & the North called each other naughty names. We were Christian then were we not?

Don’t lecture me about history.. you got your head all wrapped around Muslims because you think they are the “worst” thing in the world.. but I got to tell you Olberman. Western culture has it’s own demons too.

All you need to look at is Abortion to tell you that.

Now, rather than responding to you formally, I'm just going to put the two posts together, rest my case, and let the good jury of FR make up their own minds with regards to who's worldview they would like best in their neighbor.  You'd have to agree we see things fundamentally different enough that we won't be reconciled by beating each other up, back and forth, on a nearly dead thread.

Not all muslims are terrorists and suicide bombers.
AND
In western culture the witch burning and inquisitions didn’t swollow up our culture.
Ahh, the old liberal moral equivalence argument.  Why are you living the liberal lie?  60-90% of Americans identify themselves as Christian.  What percentage of them actually are majority Sunday attenders, believe the Apostles' Creed (or can recite it), and can explain their relationship with Christ.
Adherent Muslims are either terrorists, suicide bombers, sympathizers of both, or will refuse to reject the former.  Disagree?  Name the moderate Islamic organization that is fighting to be the voice of Islam.  Therefore, it doesn't really matter, does it, if every Mo doesn't wear a TNT belt?  The West will begin winning the "WOT," in a longterm and meaningful way, once these facts our recognized publicly.
With regards to the inquistion/witch burning, you are comparing apples and oranges: Afterall, there is quite a bit of difference between Islamist killing Westerners, and Westerners killing their own.  I hope you recognize this... please read the liberal media if you doubt me on the shared friendship between Shiites and Sunnis.  Additionally, parroting the secularist talking points is also disingenuine regarding the eeevilll Christians and the Inquistion/Witchburning.  The last scholarly work I read estimated that it is unlikely that more than two thousand people were executed for heresy by the Inquisition [The Inquisition edited by Brenda Stalcup and Henry Kamen's The Spanish Inquisition].  Nothing to be proud of, but consider it in light of 911.
Honestly, I'm not trying to make this personal, but rather, plead with others to recognize these arguments that we see all too often, coming from both the left and, unfortunately, the right.  It may very well be a matter of our own survival.

Exactly. Our nation suffers from gridlock from the swarms of Democratic attorneys who present arguments of what ‘is’ is and what ‘is’ isn’t. If ‘is’ is, then ‘is’ can also be is not and if ‘is’ is not then ‘is’ perhaps can be both is and is not at the same time!!! Got it?!? Great, now the Democrats will keep legislating this way and add other clauses which legislate against future legislation to undue the ‘is’ argument legislation. Might have to come to fisticuffs like in 1858 to change this kind of crap on the Hill.

I’ll tell you the real solution some of us are already working on: Creation of a fund to assist innovators and public servants to get elected without the ‘sponsors’ of the DNC or RNC. I’ll always stay a Republican but getting Washington off the dime is going to require creative solutions and here is the where my only angst with the party lies:

My frustration with the Republican party as a whole is that it doesn’t open there wallet for creative innovators in Internet technology but the Dems do. That is why Dems have 1/2 the voting population brainwashed, because people 20-50 years of age now get there reporting online.

WE the Republicans are vastly outgunned in cyberspace. and it is because the Dems adopt and use Internet and the Republicans don’t. The frustration comes from having to self-fund service for the nation on the Republican party behalf. Geez, even a GI gets paid to serve LOL.
