In an Apr. 10 interview with The Advocate magazine, Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) said "homophobic" messages are coming from the pulpits of black churches because "most African-American churches are still fairly traditional in their interpretations of Scripture." In the same interview, Obama praised the controversial Rev. Jeremiah Wright, his former pastor and long-time spiritual adviser, for being on the right side of the homosexual debate.
... Obama volunteered that his former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, was "very good on gay and lesbian issues."
... Black leaders and clregy reacted to Obama's remarks to The Advocate, saying they contradict the fundamentals of the Christian faith.
"The new definition of 'homophobic' means anyone who stands against homosexuality as a sin is homophobic," Rev. Ken Hutcherson, founder and senior pastor of Antioch Bible Church in Redmond Wash., told Cybercast News Servive. "That gives two choices to African-American pastors. They can either be Scriptural and demand righteousness from their flock, or they can drop Scripture and righteousness and support homosexuality."

Mychal Massie, chairman of the black conservative think tank Project 21, and Rev. Jesse Lee Peterson took Obama to task as well.
Obama has quoted scripture while on the campaign trail, talks about his faith and the Bible, so he needs to provide scriptures from the Bible that condone homosexuality.
BTW, there aren’t any scriptures that condone homosexuality.
Moral Absolutes ping.
I’m glad to see he is praising Rev. Wright again. We need Jerimiah back in the news cylce.
Keep talkin’ Barry, keep talkin’.
You are your own worst enemy.
Well Obama says Jesus preached acceptance of homosexuality.
Blasphemer!! should be his middle name, not Hussein.
Barack Blasphemer Obama.
How do you interpret the Bible saying homosexuality is wrong? Is it up for interpretation?
Oh yeah, these are the people who interpret the Constitution.
God's truth is eternal, unchanging. The only acceptable "interpretation" is going back to the original Hebrew, Aramaic or Greek, to try to tease out subtleties that our language does not capture well. If Obama seems to believe that the Bible is a "living document" in the same sense that he obvioiusly believes the Constitution to be a "living document," he's as much a Christian as he is a Constitutionalist.

I beg to differ. There are plenty of scriptures that not only support homosexuality but promote it as well. It just takes someone with the great intellectual capacity for nuance to understand them.
Sorry, Obama. If you're on the side opposite of what God has stated, you might as well forget about being right.
Those that say that the Bible does not condemn homosexuality (when in fact, it does) have yet to provide one scripture that condones homosexuality, from either the New or Old Testament/Torah.
Barack Obama would put people on the courts like the Governor of Colorado who signed legislation that would fine businesses that display church flyers, literature, etc, deemed to be anti-homosexual.
Obama would no doubt like to ram his vision down the throats of churches and Americans that have taken a stand for righteousness (and engaged in free speech) for centuries in America.
Obama is for free speech, right?
Larry Sinclair’s statements note that the Choir Director of Obie’s church claimed a relationship with Obie. Wonder why Obie accused all other black church’s of being Homophobic?
thats VERY Un Christianlike behavior and very despicable behavior for a self-proclaimed Uniter and PO**S want-abe!
The Director, a Mr. Young, met an untimely death that appears to be a homicide a year or two ago.
The Apostle Peter said something about those who would come that would wrest the scriptures from their original meaning.
I've never seen one word from Jesus in the scriptures where he condoned homosexuality.
Obama has a habit of saying completely contradictory things to different groups as if either he hasn’t heard of the internet and the pajama media or as if he believes each group will think to themselves, “He’s lying to those other groups to get elected but I know he’s telling the truth to me.” Are we really that stupid?
File under -— More trash talk from Hussein
Jesus would no doubt have loved the sinner, but admonished the sinner to go forth and sin no more. Obama seems to think that expecting repentance is "hate." He conflates the sin with the sinner.
Excellent points.
