A U.S. Army simulation game at Summerfest, shut down after complaints to festival officials, was replaced Wednesday by a modified version in which players shoot at still targets instead of virtual human beings.

The decision to reopen “America’s Army” was announced late Wednesday afternoon in a joint news release from the Army and Summerfest faxed to the Journal Sentinel on Army stationery.

Yet another Twilight Zone. Any kid can buy hundreds of video games that blast humans to bits, blood and gore flying everywhere. But the Army, whose main job is to kill people and destroy things to keep us all safe, has to dumb down its video game so the same kids shoot inanimate targets.

Talk about the world turned upside down and nucking futs.

Yeah...and some of those video games are actually ON the Summerfest grounds! Including Grand Theft Auto, which depicts characters shooting at Police Officers....nice.....it’s okay for liberals to complain about the Army simulation, but not about GTA?

I think if they’re going to make a complaint, they outta identify what the REAL complaint is....if it’s violence and content then they’d better get specific about other violence and content observed down there at Summerfest....because what the Army was showcasing down there was no different than what was already available on the XBox 360....

Obviously the real complaint is having Army recruiters on the grounds, isn’t it? The video game is nothing but a smoke screen. I wish the Armed Forces had the guts to call them out on this. Instead, they act like metrosexuals and simply roll over.

Heaven forbid one should let their kids play on-line games. In some games, like World of Warcraft, people don’t just kill virtual opponents—they fight and kill other players, often their friends. Isn’t that worse than teaching kids that it’s ok to fight against evil people?

I won’t go so far as to accuse these people of having a double standard; some liberals don’t want kids playing any game that could be construed as violent, no matter what the context.

The silliness of liberals knows no bounds.

The original cancellation was a result of an anti-war group organizing a call-in protest to the Summerfest officials, who promptly folded because they didn’t want to anger local liberals, rather than just telling them to take a hike.

Two prominent local conservative talk-show hosts spent most of yesterday beating the crap out of the Summerfest officials, and whose listeners (many of them vets) swamped the Summerfest phone lines, expressing their outrage. The Director of Marketing for Summerfest actually tried to call into one of the shows to spin what was going on. The host just eviscerated him. It was a beautiful thing.

Yeah...if you want to listen to Mark Belling's "evisceration" of the Marketing Director, just go to the podcast page and listen to Hour 1, Pt 2.... http://www.belling.com/cc-common/podcast.html

Imagine how much more he would have killed the guy if he’d known at the time that they have grand theft auto on the grounds...

Still not good enough for me. They still didn’t come clean on the reason and that alone keeps me from going back down there.

What a joke.

I was reading a sad exposition by an ex-Californian today lamenting the fact liberals destroyed his state and the p**y republicans let them! Great comment. This is more of the same. Stand up against this garbage.
