Buzz up! The ad man behind Guitar Hero and Nike takes a subversive look at American ideals in his new book, E Pluribus Venom.
As a graphic designer, Shepard Fairey has helped market some of the biggest names around: Nike, Zeppelin, Guitar Hero. And with his new book, E Pluribus Venom (Gingko Press, $30), Fairey has taken to branding Americas great national ideals -- capitalism, nationalism, militarism -- with a series of subversive ads. You wont find much of the clear-eyed optimism of Faireys Obama posters (not included in the book), but you will find America.

Shepard Fairey is another Amerikkka-hating "friend of Obama." To date he has raised well over $400,000 for Obama's campaign coffers through the sales of his set of Obama : Hope / Change / Progress posters and stickers.
Fairey has a company ("Obey") that produces his own artwork, such as these.
See Fairey's website: http://www.thegiant.org/wiki/index.php?title=Category:Prints
Obama has written Fairey that he admires "the political messages involved in your work."
If Obama does win in November, I wouldn't be surprised if this guy becomes his administration's "Artist Laureate." Can you imagine him as the Artistic Director for the Inauguration ceremonies?
Another Shepard Fairey ping
When did we become “nationalistic and militaristic”? Oh, right about the time Wilson took office.
Have you noticed that Barrack Obama’s signature looks a lot like the Zodiac Killer’s signature? ...I’m just sayin’

Faireys $400k for Obama
Anyone else suffering from Obanausea?
November cant come and go fast enought when it comes to him IMO.
Even more frightening...the “holiday” card. I
Shep Fairey?!!! L0L
You obviously haven't had your lobamatomy, cures everything.
For being a bolshevik artisan who attacks capitalism soo much, he sure seems to have no problem profiting from it and working for some of the biggest capitalist companies as well. I would to love to see how much after that 400K he kept for himself. What was his take from his work for Nike and Guitar Hero? Oh thats right. What am I thinking? Just like Al Gore, those aren’t profits. Its funds to spread the word. That money will be used to enable him to spread his message better. Message spreading technology like a bigger house, fast cars, lots of shiny stuff.

Thanks for the pings on both threads Dajjal.
Guess I’m the oddball here, but having an interest in art and love of color - I like some of his work.
I just hate who he is working for! Also, I’m not up on all his arrests!
Don’t know if any of you recall Peter Max and the psychedelic art of the 70’s. Black lights and glowing color.
BHO genus:
Princeps Venanatus Marsupium
His images aren’t even original. They are swipes from famous marxist and radical poster art of old.

I’m really not all that well informed on him. Before I posted earlier I did a search and read on wikipedia. Obviously he must have original work according to it.
All artists get ideas from other artists and then use their own style.
I would have to read more about him.
