With his family "tugging" on him to play, Brett Favre has an "itch" to come out of retirement and report to training camp with the Green Bay Packers later this month, according to sources close to the team and player.
Favre has communicated his potential desire to coach Mike McCarthy but talks have not advanced to a substantive stage, a Packers source said.

The guys on PTI on ESPN are going nuts on this right now. Sick of him teasing everyone and it’s not fair to GB’s new QB.
He should talk to Joe Montana first; this never works out.
If true, and I was Aaron Rodgers, I would ask to be traded right away..
If Favre were a different gender, you would have to call him a “drama queen”?
It remains to be seen how much cheese will have to exchange hands to make this happen....
Welcome back my friends, to the show that never ends....

Hell be back. You can count on it.
Football ping - not sure who really handles the list.
I don’t want to get old either Brett, but my wants and reality have little in common.
Problem is Aaron won’t get much in trade, he’s hardly played and got hurt the few times he did. Kind of sucks to be him, but heck of Favre leads them to the promised land Aaron gets a ring too.
He should have gone out a couple years ago and now that he is he needs to stay gone for many reasons, mainly his health.
Dammit!!!
Bear’s Fan
Of course reality is he had one of his best statistical seasons of his career last year and got to the NFC Championship. Old or not I can’t see walking away from a season like that, close but not quite is the hardest to leave.
I’m a huge Favre fan but he’s beginning to get on my nerves. This is not fair to the team and especially to the new QB.
From whose perspective? His or the fans'?
If you are an aging athlete who (a) loves the game/activity; and (b) knows it's really over when it's over (ie you will never get to play again for the rest of your life), then it behooves one to continue as long as one is able.
I activity participate in a sport that I love. One by one, many of my peers/friends have injured themselves directly or indirectly from other activities and have watched what they love to do get away from them.
Do not go gentle into that good night ...
I don’t ever want to see him carried off the field, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him give in to his competitive drive. I’ll remain a fan no matter what.
I have to wonder if his family is “tugging” at him to return to football because he’s such an a** hole to live with. Brett, go coach at the local high school for free or find something else to occupy yourself - you made the right choice.
