Sen. John McCain will choose businessman and former Massachusetts Governor, Mitt Romney as Vice President, in his bid for the White House this November, a source closely connected with the McCain campaign, who asked to remain anonymous, told us earlier this afternoon.
Though others were close in the running, the choice ultimately came down to the moneynot the man. According to our source, the campaign narrowed their Vice Presidential options to Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney, the two most successful opponents of McCain in the bid for the Republican nomination. But despite Huckabees sway with far Right conservatives and evangelical voters, Romney packs the deepest fund-raising pockets.
As a successful businessman and prominent member of the staggeringly wealthy Mormon community, Romney brings with him the potential to raise upwards of $60 million in 30 to 60 days, whereas Huckabee could only raise $10 to $15 million, says our source.
McCain needs those types of numbers to be competitive with the money-sponge that is the Obama campaign, which has 1.7 million individual donorsas well as the Hollywood machineand is ringing-out advertising dollars across the country, saturating voters in his 50 State Strategy to win the White House.
How the hell did the publisher of the Top 20 Side-Boobs of All Time get this scoop, you must be asking yourself, right now. (We were asking ourselves the same question.) And heres the answer: Its all part of the McCain campaigns plan to directly target college-age voters, in an attempt to sway them away from Sen. Obama, says our source.
Additionally, the campaign wants to solidify their ticket far in advance of the Obama campaign making their VP choice, in order to get a head start on the surge in fund-raising they expect to receive with the announcement of Romney as the Republican VP pick.
So next time two dudes in suits knock on your door, they might want more than to proselytize about the Book of Mormon
UPDATE: We understand better than anyone how crazy it seems that we got this story first, so a healthy level of skepticism is expected. But we stand by the accuracy of our reporting on this, and will give you as many new details as possible in the coming daysincluding the name of our source, if we can.
Crack-heads.
I have said the same since Mitt bowed out. I will still probably have to imbibe to do so. Mccain honestly looks ill to me. He even sounds ill.
You forgot the "Sh-".
Every side? Dumbass- he used to be pro-choice, but has been solidly pro-life the last decade... He saw the light... Just like Reagan

I understand. You want the liberals to be in control of both parties. Sorry, I’m not drinking your Kool-aid.
I’ve studied his record. I know it is mixed. I also know Obama has a darn good shot at winning the Presidency if conservatives don’t do the right thing. That could spell the end of this nation as we know it. That is as grown up as I can get. Obama appointing Supremes and federal judges - kiss your liberty goodbye. That’s the reality, sir. We did not get a conservative that had a chance this time. Allow Obama to win,and see if you ever get one again.
Are you really that stupid ? He's no more pro-life than Obama. Around here we call it lying to the rubes. Your repeating the lie that Reagan was pro-abortion is shameful and despicable.
You have a particularly twisted view of Mitt. Does it go back to the Morman thing with you?
How more moral can one be than a Mormon? Mitt is a politician, and I think a great one. He is my favorite all time except for Ronnie. When he runs for prez himself I will walk on fire coals to help him.
I don’t know where you get your opinions from but they are ONLY opinions and not fact..... Mitt didn’t fool me, Rush, Ann Coulter, Laura, etcetera etcetera ad infinum. I love Mitt enough to make up for 100,000 people like you who don’t want to understand anything but your preconceptions of him.
Mitt has the looks, the smarts, the experience, the guts to take the fight to the scum on the left... He was the only viable candidate talking conservative values throughout the primaries... best of all, he’s got the fire in the belly, and wants to win. Dolts on FR, like those you’ve already battled on this thread, are nothing but jackasses, intent on dwindling our numbers in the House and Senate, and are doing Hussein’s dirty work... these vermin gave us McCain to begin with
No, you haven’t studied his record at all. If you have, you wouldn’t be shilling for him (unless you’re a liberal or a Democrat agent). If you liked Al Gore, you’ll love *omney. Some of us have known Joe Isuzu *omney for a LONG time.
How about stopping with the stupid comments and really consider the implications of an Obama Presidency.
As long as McCain’s running mate isn’t Hillary or some far left whacko, clothes pin companies should be on backorder for all of the Republicans flocking to them before the vote.
Yes. I am still very smitten with him. It is good to have such good Americans in our country, he is the best.
Don’t tell me what I have and have not studied.
Romney isn’t an Obama and he isn’t a Gore.
I should also punch abuse for your calling me ugly names like liberal and Democrat.
More crap talking points. *omney IS the scum on the left.
“Dumbass”
Grow up. Leave the infantile name calling somewhere else.
Try to use logic and facts instead of emotion.
Romney only saw the light based on what office he was running for.
He is a phony
Indeed he is (and you’re not too bad yourself). :-)
He’s a trojan horse Democrat. An awful Governor and known saboteur. *omney IS a liberal rodent in all but party label. If you had any intellectual integrity, you’d admit that.
No, you’re like a stalker... Every single thread that mentions Romney, you’re on it, blasting him... You’re like a scorned divorced woman, who can’t let go... Your hate is irrational, immature, and beyond rational... GO sulk in the corner, no one wants to hear it lady
If McCain does win, I don't think he's healthy enough to finish his term and it will be good to have Mitt as VP as he will be able to step in and restore some much-needed conservatism to the Republican Party.
Constitutional question here: If McCain dies in his first term (of natural causes, of course) and Mitt Romney was the VP, would Mitt be able to run for re-election two more times or will he only be able to run for one additional term? I can't seem to find the answer to that question anywhere on the Internet.
Consider the hypothetical possibility that McCain will drop dead about two minutes after taking the oath of office (not that I'm hoping that happens), would Mitt then be able to be sworn in immediately, serve out McCain's four year term and then run for president for two terms on his own? That would give us Mitt for 12 years. By then, one of Mitt's sons might be old enough to run and than we could have "Mitt Jr" for another eight years. That's two decades of Romney and by then end of those 20 years, even Romney fans like me might be "Romneyed Out."
