Obama Adviser: McCain 'Sadly Limited' By POW Years (audio)

Obama advisor Rand Beers was asked by a member of the audience about Sen. John McCain's foreign policy credentials on June 30 at "McCain U.," a McCain-critique session at the Center for American Progress on Monday in Washington. Beers says his captivity during the Vietnam War “sadly limited” McCain’s ability to be a war-time leader:

“Sadly, Sen. McCain was not available during those times, and I say that with all due respect to him," said informal Obama adviser Rand Beers. "I think that the notion that the members of the Senate who were in the ground forces or who were ashore in Vietnam have a very different view of Vietnam and the cost that you described than John McCain does because he was in isolation essentially for many of those years and did not experience the turmoil here or the challenges that were involved for those of us who served in Vietnam during the Vietnam war."

"So I think," he continued, "to some extent his national security experience in that regard is sadly limited and I think it is reflected in some of the ways that he thinks about how U.S. forces might be committed to conflicts around the world."

...says his captivity during the Vietnam War “sadly limited” McCain’s ability to be a war-time leader...

What a cheap shot.

Then again, maybe Mr. Obama's many years of indoctrination in Indonesia and elsewhere "limit" his ability to act like an American.

So! For liberals, now torture is okay and not a big deal. Sort of like taking a vacation away from the action.

God these people are pathetic.

I guess they’re pretty much counting on the people being as stupid as they believe them to be.

Obama is clearly sending these people out there to attack McCain's military service because Obama admits he was too busy doing drugs than serving his country and that wouldn't sit well coming from him.

“... John McCain does because he was in isolation essentially for many of those years and did not experience the turmoil here or the challenges that were involved for those of us who served in Vietnam during the Vietnam war.”

Please get idiots like this out as the face of the Democrats, please!

I have two gut reactions:

#1 - How does this moron measure cost? The price that John McCain paid is not as great as the dirty hippies who experienced “turmoil” here?! I get angry just typing this! Regardless what you think of Mr. McCain’s potential as president, it’s clear he’s paid a higher price than most, and is more than qualified in that capacity.

#2 - What price has the Obamassiah paid? What is Obama’s qualification beyond being black?!

So now the spin is that McCain's isolation in the Hanoi Hilton "spared" him from the "anguish" of the anti-war pinhead protesters back home?

I tell ya man, it was HELL there marchin' on the national mall .... I still wake up at night in a cold sweat thinking about it, man. Like when John F Kerry was throwing those medals over the fence at the Capital... and Ramsay Clark up there in front of the people with Joan Baez .... sorry man, got a catch in my throat...sob,sob ....

Sadly, I think it’s sad that people like Beers are so sadly lacking in intelligence that they are saddened by things that make them sad like, people who are better men than them who don’t get sad when when they feel like they might get sad about saying something saddeningly stupid.

What rubbish! The Obama campaign knows McCain’s military experience is a big asset for him, so they’re doing everything they can to knock it. This is being entirely orchestrated by the Obama campaign.

If this isn't reminiscent of the “all Viet Nam Vets are a little tetched in the head” attitude, I don't know what is.

When Obama and his mom were in Indonesia, that country was considered “non-aligned” under Sukarno. Meaning it was theoretically not pro-West and not pro-Soviet. Ann Dunham Obama had interesting tastes in countries.

Hmmmmmm......years of abuse in an enemy POW facility vs a few hours of (much deserved) police beatings...? Sure....I can see the comparison.

I had to cut it off during the opening, apparently planted, painfully blithering, question...

What did strike me were the "not my son" theme and self-congratulatory reference to "what took place in the streets in the sixties".

Eternally children themselves, it seems that ageing hippies intend to keep their own kids in short pants and braids 'till they're well past enlistment age.

“So! For liberals, now torture is okay and not a big deal.”

Not so. For liberals, it’s only a big deal if you’re not an American. Americans “deserve” to be tortured. There. I’ve clarified the issue.

Neither person is qualified to be president. Both are bad news. Have you read what McCain said about illegal aliens? The man is a fanatic and not one I would trust with the office of president.

Rand Beers
You would think this doofus would know better.
But apparently he drank the DNC koolaid and went over to the dark side in 2003. Another potential senior member of the future Obama Presidential Cabinet, bringind “change” to America. Like patronizing our genuine war heroes in order to carry water for a smarmy inexperienced Marxist who thinks the US has 57 states.
