Obama defends his patriotism; McCain and Clark trade shots (Dems Trash Col "Bud" Day)

INDEPENDENCE, MO. -- Sen. Barack Obama said Monday that no candidate should use patriotism as a "political sword" in the presidential race, vowing to push back against charges that he is not fervent about his country.

Yet even as Obama repeated his call for a new brand of politics that avoids personal attacks, the day was dominated by an old-style clash over the military credentials of his Republican opponent, Sen. John McCain.

Air Force Col. George E. "Bud" Day, a Medal of Honor recipient who was McCain's cellmate in North Vietnam, said Clark's "backhanded slap" was "one of the more surprising insults in my military history." Day was a member of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, a group that led a campaign to challenge accounts of Kerry's performance in Vietnam.

Day rejected a comparison between the work of the "Swift boat" veterans and the comments by Clark.

"The Swift boat, quote, attacks were simply a revelation of the truth; the similarity does not exist here," Day said.

It's too bad we didn't have Gen. Clark around back in 1960 to point us in the right direction when everyone was all a-flutter about a Massachusetts Senator and his bravery during World War II.

But we did have General Clark around in 2004 to comment on the Presidential qualities of another Mass senator- the highly decorated John "F" Kerry with his 4 months of service in Vietnam

Some people believe that having America deliberately lose a war is "patriotic" because losing wars is good for America.

Obama, in his own way, may be very "patriotic". That, however, does not change the fact that his naive and foolish ideas of "patriotism" would be very dangerous for America.

That appears to be the Obama gameplan.

Just lask week, Obama co-campaign manager Tony McPeak (a retired 4 star who is perhaps the most despised Air Force Chief of Staff in history) went after McCain with pure venom.

"He was fresh out of jail, you know," Gen. McPeak said. "Skinny kid. All beat up of course, physically. But quite thin. They weren't feeding him very well in Hanoi. He's done very well at the dinner table in Washington." Gen. McPeak also said Mr. McCain received special favors when he returned to the U.S. "McCain was always kind of an exception," Gen. McPeak said. When told about Gen. McPeak's comments, Mr. McCain's roommate in the Hanoi Hilton was not amused. "Surely a four-star general can come up with something better than that," said Orson Swindle, a former Marine Corps pilot who, like Mr. McCain, was shot down over enemy territory. "It reeks of pettiness and sarcasm, and I can't imagine why he can make that kind of comment to imply that John McCain feasts at the Washington establishment."

For anyone who can remember, these are the EXACT surrogate tactics used against Jack Ryan in IL during Obysmal’s senatorial run. I was still living in IL at the time and this marxist fraud had his surrogates file papers to open Mr. Ryan’s divorce records.

This character assassination was brutally continued, regardless of pleas from Ryan and his ex-wife that this be stopped as they wanted to keep their private life out of the campaign. Their child didn’t deserve to hear the info smeared through the media by the Obama campaign.

As now, Obama made empty platitudes about rising about the fray while NEVER, EVER condemning what his supporters did.

I despise this man, his party, supporters and all that they stand for. He and his handlers have one objective — pure, unadulterated power by any means necessary.
