Church of England clergy plan mass exit over women bishops 1,300 write protest letter to archbishop
Ruth Gledhill, Religion Correspondent
More than 1,300 clergy, including 11 serving bishops, have written to the archbishops of Canterbury and York to say that they will defect from the Church of England if women are consecrated bishops.
As the wider Anglican Communion fragments over homosexuality, Englands established Church is moving towards its own crisis with a crucial vote on women bishops this weekend.
In a letter to Rowan Williams and John Sentamu, seen by The Times, the signatories give warning that they will consider leaving the Church if two crucial votes are passed to introduce female bishops.

As an Anglican I don’t put much stock in the writings of Ruth Gledhill. Wait and see what happens.
Anglican ping, although it is Gledhill.
its all Anne Boylens fault
they are cool with fags, but draw the line at women??? i simply don't understand...
Thanks to kalee for the ping.

Speak the truth in love. Eph 4:15
Well of course. If she'd only stuck with being a Girlen all would be fine.
WAY too simplistic an analysis. You're looking at a situation that has been developing over decades, with stresses running in multiple directions and multiple tears have already occurred, but you are assuming that the first tear to come to your attention represents the only stress in the fabric.
i guess my point(made badly) was why didn't they stop the queers???
Things have simply been pushed beyond the breaking point over there, and with the stresses already on the organization there was no telling where it would tear first.
I don't know if there's precedent for multiple issues facing the Church at once, but I suspect that if there is, there's but one that provides the trigger.
(I think I've predicted here that when the tear came it would go three ways: the apostates, the Anglo-Protestants and the Anglo-Catholics. Some of the A-Ps may accept women ministers, I doubt any of the A-Cs will accept women priests.)
Fags don't like women.
"12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence." -- I Timothy 2:12
of course... what was i thinking???
thx...
“12But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.” — I Timothy 2:12
I’m guessing that Timothy was single.
Actually, it was Paul who wrote that. The letter is to Timothy.
Correct. Homosexuality is a sin, and women are Not to have authority over men.(in church)
I have confidence that God knows what is best!
My pick for the day...
Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, let your mind dwell on these things.
Philippians 4:8
Mmm, OK. So Paul was single.
Good for both sides, I guess. The Conservatives get to have their own church again, and the church left behind will just fill all the slots with all those cross dressers, queer theory professors, and womyinists that are waiting to put on the collar.
