Just outside his sealed bedroom window, beyond the chain-link fence that surrounds his next-door neighbor's yard, sit the reasons David Adams says he can't sleep: two bushy-tailed dogs that bark and howl all night.
The Magnolia, Miss., resident plugged up his ears and even took his neighbor to court alleging a noise violation. But the barking went on. Finally he discovered a Web site seemingly tailor-made for such suburban woes: http://www.RottenNeighbor.com.
"Nothing seemed to work. I couldn't get any help from the city," Adams said. "So I figured, let's try public humiliation."
He posted a video of the troublesome pooches on the site, and other users chimed in on his plight. Some offered sympathy and methods of silencing the mutts. Others berated him for blaming the animals.
The site founded last July is part online therapy, part trashy paperback novel. It singles out neighbors for offenses ranging from shoddy lawn upkeep ("They have garbage all through their yard") to alleged violence ("He has tried to run us down with his push lawnmower").
"It's kind of like watching a train wreck," admits 51-year-old Maegan Polak, of Flossmoor, Ill. "You know you shouldn't be enjoying it, but you are."

Poisoned hot dogs or a pellet rifle would be simpler & easier...
It’s my yard and I’ll walk around naked in it if I want to.
Oh cool... a stupid site for stupid people, busybodies and idiots. LOL

My sister experienced something similar years ago. She got a soundtrack recording of many different sounds recording the barking dogs trac on a different cassett tape, rigged up a sound system, placing the speakers outside facing her neighbor’s house and when the neighbor dogs started their barking routine she’d activate her own barking dogs, upping the volume to near maximum levels until the neighbor got the message and controlled his dogs.
This was a last resort as she tried more civil approaches to no avail many times. Other neighbors supported her efforts when she explained what she was going to do.
this is a lawsuit waiting to happen.
Pepper spray works and works quickly.
Yeah, very mature and good reasoning! Blame the dumb animal for a humans mistake.....better yet... kill the pet. (shaking head) I’m positive God won’t be meeting you at the Pearly gates if you do that.
I took a look and found a disturbing number of sex offenders among the bad neighbors. Not too many surprises as to locations of hot spots in our area or in the vicinity of my parents’ home. If I were looking for a new home, this would be a helpful tool, even though there are some really goofy complaints in there.
Most of the entries in this area appear to have been pulled from the sex offender database. It is easier to navigate than the one that the county has.
just fry up some sponges in bacon grease
Let me tell you about my neighbor, Mexico.....
Nothing personal, but I suspect you and I see that statement from different perspectives.
Just saying.
I used a similar system when I was single and lived on the lower level of a two-family home. The tenant upstairs was a crotchety old polish guy (I called him Fritz)that hated everyone in the neighborhood. He worked second shift at a local paper mill as a machine mechanic and would get home at about 1:00AM and begin cleaning, vacuuming and moving furniture for hours. This went on for weeks and I finally had enough (no sleep will make you do things you otherwise wouldn't).
A musician friend of mine sampled his German Shepard's barking and put together a CD with a single track of 60 minutes of aggressive barking. At 7:00AM when I'd leave for work I'd crank my stereo and put the CD player on repeat. I'd get home at 6:00PM and the "dog" would still be barking. He threatened me once with violence and I filed a complaint against him. 5 days of "The Dog" and he moved out soon after. Problem solved.
Perhaps.
I think the same sort of thing for Cops is a good idea. But bad neighbors are bad neighbors no matter what.
My idea of a bad neighbor might be different from yours.... on the other hand I’m not going to go putting my bad neighbor up on the internet for all the world to see.
It’s REALLY between me and that neighbor and making them public is a silly, childish thing to do. They are private citizens like all of us are and even if I hate a certain person and can’t STAND the crap they do, putting them up on the internet to embarrass them is somehow a good thing?
No, I don’t think so.
For police its a good thing. They are public “servants” and should remain so, not allow themselves to be ‘above the law’ and doing such a web site is a good idea to keep them honest.
For professors, it’s a GREAT idea. They are (mostly) paid by institutions that are run by the various states (yes, I know many aren’t) - and even so, they are teaching and training young people and should be checked on from time to time.
There are a good number of reasons for many (most) watchdog groups.
But putting up a site to make a neighbor look like a jerk (even if they are jerks) is lame, childish, certainly NOT a Christian, or even a CONSERVATIVE way to do things.
OCCASIONALLY there are neighbors that do things, that NO MATTER what you do legally, you can’t get them to stop... and perhaps this thing with the dogs might be a way to fix this problem, for this situation.
But not ALL situations warrant this sort of behavior on either party’s side.
A web site or more information?
How do you keep a slum lord from renting to drug dealers. In 4 years .. we have had 9 dopers/dealers busted in the small apt complex next door. Pretty poor average for a LandLord. It happened when the apt complex was sold by the owner builder of 15 years to a new guy. Never a problem with the original owner/landlord, her ran a tight ship
WHen I confronted him (new landlord) about it he got super PO’d (put out) and started screaming that all I was was a trouble maker that wanted to be part of the problem instead of the solution.
Well duh .... last time I checked I wasn’t on the trust deed as owner of the property nor did I have any authority to sign leases. His little corporate phrase might apply to his corporate world where nobody is responsible for anything ... but it made hime even angrier when I pointed it out.
That parking lot is busier than a McDondalds drive up window at lunchtime ... 60 second durations.
For now I call 911 every other night .... but the polie don’t seem to get tired of coming out ... same thing .. we have to catch them in the act.
