"Batman the Ride" at Six Flags Over Georgia. It was the second Batman ride-related death at the Cobb County park.
According to the police and a statement from the amusement park, the boy and a friend climbed over two 6-foot fences -- the park perimeter fence and a second one surrounding the ride -- to get to the roller coaster. Park officials said there were numerous signs warning would-be intruders of the danger.
The victim was decapitated when the ride struck him, police said. The youth was not identified.
"The areas where the individuals entered were clearly marked with signs marked 'restricted area. Authorized personnel only,' and a sign on a locked gate that read 'Danger zone. Do not enter. Authorized personnel only," park spokeswoman Hela Sheth said to reporters, reading from a prepared statement.

I’m sure that the facts won’t matter when the parents lawyers bring the case to court.
At least he died before he further polluted the gene pool.

He’s a human being with a bereaved family. It’s mean-spirited to make fun of him for dying in the way we did.
Come on guys, these is an easy one.
It’s “Bush’s Fault®”.
Bush obviously did not fund this young man’s education enough so the fence hopper could read the warning signs.
It’s not mean to point out when someone does something stupid.
It helps serve as a valuable lesson to others - don’t do stupid stuff.

"Permanent Reminder of a Temporary Feeling"
There is an old abandoned quarry pit in our county. The company put up a fence with a locked gate and signs warning about the danger of swimming or playing around the pit, plus No Trespassing signs. In spite of all this, teenagers from the area still have been coming out, cutting the lock or climbing over the fence, ignoring the signs, and swimming in the quarry pit. Last weekend, a young man, just 20 yrs. old drowned while swimming over there. He was a skilled mechanic with many military honors, and had done two tours of duty in Iraq. - I think most things like this have more to do with kids today simply not learning to respect property rights and the law. Also, young people have always been notorious for thinking they are indestructible and for not using good judgment a lot of times.
I think, too, that in some cases parents don’t always realize that allowances made for small misbehviors in childhood or disregard for other’s rights exhibited by parents in view of the child can prove fatal or tragic when the child gets older. However, with even the best of parents, kids still sometimes disobey and misbehave, and sadly that also sometimes goes horribly wrong.
I agree. I am disgusted by the comments I’ve read regarding this story. None of us are perfect, every one of us has done stupid things. Teenagers think they are invincible. He wasn’t a bad kid, he just made a foolish choice and paid for it with his life. It’s tragic and heartbreaking. He was someone’s son and I can’t imagine what his family must be going through. I have compassion for him and his family.
I am also ashamed and disturbed by the mean-spirited comments. I thought better of posters here, but from what I’ve read they are no better than posters over at DU.
17 is old enough to know better...they are not children... and they are old enough to know that if they do something stupid, it could cost them their life, and if they know that then they should know what losing their lives would do to their families.... I am sorry that their son was selfish enough to not consider that before he did before he did it, and I’m sorry they didn’t raise a more sensible son.

We come to FR to call a spade a spade - no spin at its best and if we err in the direction of cruelty sometimes, then that is the price we pay for speaking the truth.
Jumping one fence is stupid.
Jumping two fences (for a hat) is Darwinesque.
If the thought of being ridiculed for dying doing something extraordinarily stupid gives one teenager pause, it is worth it.
