Of this, there can be no dispute: Gov. Bobby Jindal's honeymoon is over.
The consensus at home is that Jindal lost his luster by declining to veto the Legislature's lavish pay raise. But Jindal is also playing to a national audience these days, and on that front, he's taking a different sort of hit.
While Louisiana voters are up in arms over the revelation that Jindal is not above cutting political deals, the deal killer elsewhere in the country could be an unrelated bill that he signed last week, state Sen. Ben Nevers' "Louisiana Science Education Act."

I agree with you on the education front. I see the lack of a veto over the pay raise issue a bit differently; seems to me that he could be letting the “legislature” hang themselves with their own rope. I,for one, would never vote for one of these sleezeballs again after they pull a stunt like this. Isn’t the pay raise tied to some other legislation that’s really necessary? I don’t follow Louisiana politics that closely.
If memory serves me correctly:
The Legislature is in session for 90 days.
Not bad $$ for 6 months off.
I guess we can disqualify Bobby Jindal from the presidency, having now discovered he flaws. I mean that worked so well this time around. I guess we might as well start making the signs:
Susan Collins 2016
As we get the worst candidate when we nitpick everybody else to death.
BTW, the ID bill passed by an overwhelming margin in both houses and was quite reasonable.
Big Sis looks so proud, it almost brings a tear to my eye.
Signing the Intelligent Design bill cost him most of his political capital. Pandering to the anti-intellectual wing of the conservative movement has always been a non-starter.

Acadia Parish GOP Executive Committee Passes Resolution Regarding Legislative Pay Raises
see first link, above post, too late for affidavits
http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/0806/29/le.01.html
CROWLEY: Governor, we’re running out of time here, so I wanted to turn my attention just to you. You have said, in Louisiana, that you will not stand in the way of a doubling of legislators’ pay. You’re taking a lot of heat for that back home.
How does this jibe — allowing legislators to double their pay, how does that jibe with your role as a conservative?
JINDAL: Well, I still think the pay is excessive. We still actually have over a week before that law goes into effect.
CROWLEY: But why wouldn’t you block it, then, if you think it’s excessive?
JINDAL: And we’re actually working with legislators to show them that this is wrong. There is still time to make sure this doesn’t happen. They can still sign affidavits to turn down this pay raise. I do think it’s excessive. I think it’s wrong. I don’t think any pay raise should go into effect until after the next election. So...
(CROSSTALK)
CROWLEY: But you could stop them, couldn’t you? You could veto this.
JINDAL: Well, and there is still time to stop them. We still have a week. And we still have many options to make sure that we don’t see legislators take a pay raise that would be more than double what they currently make. I think that’s excessive.
Again, I don’t think any pay raise should go into effect until after the next election. The good news is we still have time to stop this excessive pay raise. And we’re working with legislators on many options to stop that, over the next week.
CROWLEY: Governor Bobby Jindal, from Louisiana, thanks so much for your time.
JINDAL: Thank you very much.

I’m still hopeful that he will VETO this mess and get it over with...
That's my thought, as well -- combined with his refusal to rein in the pay raise thievery, it makes me wonder whether Jindal is just another of those big-government GOP-ers who pays superficial attention to social issues. Ugh.
