As Barack Obama has made clear, he believes combatting international terror should be viewed as a "law enforcement" problem rather than a war. Preposterous? Not if you're a modern day liberal. Why? Consider two basic beliefs that inform liberals like Obama. The first is moral relativity, aka there is no black or white, only shades of gray, also known as "one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter." The second is multiculturalism, aka no one culture is better than any other. First, moral relativity. When one bestows the same rights and privileges on non-citizen, non-uniformed, stateless jihadists [U.S. Supreme Court]as those granted to American citizens we have elevated their status, and, as a result, legitimized their grievances. Therefore they become entitled to the "benefit of the doubt" that a civilian court of law provides. Multiculturalism? This is the notion that the sclerotic, stuck-in-the-7th-century cultural mindset that informs most of the Middle East, the incubator for Islamofascism, is no less legitimate that our own culture. Endeavoring to understand "why the terrorists hate us" takes precedence over eliminating the threat they pose to our existence. In addition, multiculturalism forces us to believe what may or may not be true. How many times have Americans been told "moderate" Muslims are no threat to us whatsoever? How do we know that exactly, and what, exactly, constitutes a "moderate" in a faith that commands "infidels" be treated as second-class citizens under the BEST of circumstances? There's no moral equivalence between the United States and terrorists. Period. But when terrorists get Constitutional rights, and liberals contend that a war is a law enforcement matter, we're already there.

If bin Laden is captured the ACLU will probably insist on his release if he hadn't been Mirandized by his American captors.

This is pre 9-11 thinking and is right out of Clinton's hand book. "Terrorism is a legal matter"

Imagine WWII if fought by the modern Democrats. How would we get Hitler and the top Nazis? Oh, sorry, we can’t because we don’t have jurisdiction in Europe (which has been conquered).

Ruth Bader Ginsberg is bent on the destruction of the USA.

How do we know when we have won a war on terror, is the US always going to be in a state of war? I guess it depends if you are defining terror as a tactic (and we are at war with this tactic), or if you are talking about our current war against radical Islam.

I can get behind with the later, but the former leaves me scared for our long-term liberty.

I have seen it defined as both.

Can the future of our country be any bleaker… Its hard to be optimistic when you witness day in and day out our ‘leaders’ attempts at national suicide. I remember an Iraqi once asked (after Bill Clinton blew-off the opportunity to have Osama bin Laden killed) “Are there any real men left in Washington”? I fear the answer is…no.

Only when Terrorist see the futility of their cause.

I can get behind with the later, but the former leaves me scared for our long-term liberty.

If the Terrorist are here than it is a legal matter but in their own back yard it's a military matter.

My concern for the all "legal-matter" argument is that the War on Terror will be used for more sinister purposes, like shutting down the press and silencing opposition. President Bush is walking a tightrope on this issue (got burnt a few times) but a ideologue will abuse it under the guise "for the Children' type mantra...

***As Barack Obama has made clear, he believes combatting international terror should be viewed as a “law enforcement” problem rather than a war. ***

So it does’t matter to Obama that the terrorist themselves have decalred war on America and civilization? So he does not care that they consider themselves at war with us and themselves warrirors?
He thinks that normal police /legal action is the answer to terrorists intention to destroy America.
Is this what you want as President of America?

What liberal has shown an attitude any different from hers via action, promotion and speak?

And Just like Clinton, Obama is also an attorney. It seems that's pretty much all the Democrat Party has running for candidates within the past 16 years: Ambulance Chasers (John Edwards) and Shysters (both Clintons and Obama).

“Are there any real men left in Washington”?

The definition of "real men" has been grayed to the point not being definable.

True dignitaries no longer exist.

You touched on a really important point. One of the signs of a decadent society is how litigious it has become. The number of absurd, junk lawsuits that is swamping our judicial system is truly astonishing. The shyster trial lawyers are a good example. Justice has become irrelevant in the obsessive compulsion to sue anybody for anything for an astronomical sum. It’s really become part of the ethos and mindset of our culture and it’s a societal rot. Even when one has no case whatsoever, one can always hope for an out-of-court settlement from a defendant who hasn’t the time or money to spend his life fighting for months or years in court.

The one thing I DON’T want is Obama as President. Among many other bad qualities is that he just doesn’t get it with respect to terrorism. Human nature being what it is, too many have become complacent because we havn’t had another 9/11. But that, or worse, could happen any time. We can’t afford to have anyone with a pre-9/11 mentality in the White House.

Yep. I think Obama is a nice guy. But nice guy liberals aren't for long in this world.

Jimma' Carter has proved that they can last at least 4 years and do plenty to promote the destruction of our way of life in a "not so long" fashion.

The rot has been promoted to the reeking stage of progression.
