Grim Proving Ground For Obama's Housing Policy (The Boston Globe Rips Barack Obama
Boston Globe ^ | 6/27/2008 | Binyamin Appelbaum

The candidate endorsed subsidies for private entrepreneurs to build low-income units. But, while he garnered support from developers, many projects in his former district have fallen into disrepair.

The squat brick buildings of Grove Parc Plaza, in a dense neighborhood that Barack Obama represented for eight years as a state senator, hold 504 apartments subsidized by the federal government for people who can't afford to live anywhere else.

But it's not safe to live here.

... Grove Parc has bvecome a private symbol for some in Chicago of the broader failures of giving public subsidies to private companies to build and manage affordable housing - an approach strongly backed by Obama as the best replacement for public housing.

... But a Globe review found that thousands of apartments across Chicago had been built with local, state, and federal subsidies - including several hundred in Obama's former district - deteriorated so completely that they were no longer habitable.

IOW, we shouldn't judge or critique a liberal on how effective their ideas or policies were, but rather, we should judge a liberal on their intentions.

Yep, heard that before.

People don’t value free. You get what you (we) pay for. This country is in deep doo doo if we’re seriously considering this assclown a “leader”.

LOL, yeah. Standard operating procedure. They can’t help it if we aren’t ready for their ‘vision’.

But Obama didn't do squat about this or the plight or the residents. The column brings that up.

IOW, we can see that Obama doesn't give a damn about the poor. He only cares about his political supporters and buddies.

Of course, like Teflon. It's not him,...

Is that a crack about him being black? Black like Teflon is black? Are you a racist? See, the evil right wing hates Obama 'cause he's black!

(extreme sarcasm!!!) (but funny!)

Obama says that he cares about the poor. So then, he places the responsibility upon himself for caring about them. His policy failed, the residents there paid for him being a joke of a representative and now Obama should have to answer why all of this happened.

But, in this case, he didn't care about them at all.

He cares about his political supporters and his buddies.

All McCain needs is a photo of the run down neighborhood before Obama’s community action and then a picture now. Probably same squalid conditions, just a higher population density.

Don’t worry, all we have to do is “Hope” for “Change we can believe in” and everything will be alright.

Isn't he the one we have been waiting for?

Use of the passive voice. “They [the buildings] deteriorated.”

Not quite. The tenants treat them like crap because they have nothing invested in them. Screw ‘em up and let the government build more of them, maybe this time with bigscreen TVs included.

Obama: “Yes, that was my housing policy, but it's not the housing policy that I knew.”

Obama: “Yes, that was the district I represented, but it's not the district I knew.”

Huh? What do those statements even mean? Take responsibility? I won't hold my breath. I'd love to hear an explanation, but I won't wait for that either. It's like the Dems all go to the 'Depends on the meaning of is' School of Public Speaking.

He was speaking about the fact Obama always wimps out and claims that the way things are now is not the way he knew them when he endorsed them I.E.: Reverend Wright for instance and his idiotic church, both of which Obama said that they were not the reverend he knew and not the church he knew and there are several other instances where things were not the way he knew them. Just weasel words on his part to deny responsibility for his actions.

Did you know that Obama was a "community organizer"?

Emulate tone of "Did you know that John Kerry was in Viet Nam"...

The Boston Globe is owned by the New York Times, which is in the pocket of...who?

Does this investigative reporting piece amrk the beginning of a stealth counter-attack by She Who Shall Not Be Named?

My betting would be "Yep!"
