One reason the primaries were such a totally uncoordinated mess of a free-for-all this year is, frankly, Dick Cheney. If Bush would have selected a younger, and more conservative Veep, that one man would have been a near cinch to take the mantle as the Republican candidate this year.
Assuming all the fates shine brightly, McCain is president for 8 years. Or maybe just 4, and politely declines to compete for a second term. At the end of either one or two terms, we need a stalwart conservative Veep, WHO IS ONLY ABOUT 48-55 YEARS OLD at that time, to be ready to become the next president.
And for all I like Fred, he's just not that guy. I cringe thinking of our combined ticket being a combined 150 years old, more or less...
I have a less than tactful question for everyone. What happens if McCain should be incapacitated or pass away before the convention? After the convention but, before the election? Does anyone know?
But without Cheny there may not have been a Bush Presidency.
