Send in the National Guard. If we can use it to protect civil rights, we can use it to protect Constitutional Rights. Way past time for a smackdown of these socialist, America-hating, Constitution-hating b***ards anyway.

I think semi-automatic is a description of every pistol in existence. Pretty much true.

Exactly. Very few weapons in this country have actually been outlawed. I wonder what Thug Fenty heard from his lawyers. Semi automatics, which include virtually every handgun and pistol in existence, are legal under federal and state laws. Boy, is the man stupid.

Im sure he has not a clue what semi-automatic means. Yes, just like all clueless libs believe that "Assault Rifles" are all fully automatic.
Most of these far-left moonbats--having never lowered their dignity by deigning to have served in the military /s--have probably never even held a weapon of any kind in their lilly, socialist, hands and would not know a semi-automatic from a muzzle loader.

Page 49 of Scalia's majority opinion:
The Constitution secures the right of the people to keep and bear arms. No doubt, a citizen who keeps a gun or pistol under judicious precautions, practices in safe places the use of it, and in due time teaches his sons to do the same, exercises his individual right.
Now, my semi-automatic handguns (two 9mm's and two .45 cal.'s) are pistols, aren't they?

The majority opinion consistently discusses handguns, and does not specify revolvers, pistols or anything else. I think a semi-automatic handgun is still a “handgun”, isn’t it?

Does this qualify as semi-auto?

Some have made the argument, bordering on the frivolous, that only those arms in existence in the 18th century are protected by the Second Amendment. We do not interpret constitutional rights that way. Just as the First Amendment protects modern forms of communications, e.g., Reno v. American Civil Liberties Union, 521 U. S. 844, 849 (1997), and the Fourth Amendment applies to modern forms of search, e.g., Kyllo v. United States, 533 U. S. 27, 3536 (2001), the Second Amendment extends, prima facie, to all instruments that constitute bearable arms, even those that were not in existence at the time of the founding. -DC Vs Heller. 07-290. 2008.

Now the game will be what it has been all along anyhow, kill the RIGHT to bear arms and undermine the spirit of the Second Amendment with a thousand small bureaucratic paper cuts.
Registration, complex forms, fees, taxes, bogus discriminators, really tight inspections and reviews where any “t” that isn't crossed will get the paperwork kicked back, extra special restrictions when transporting the weapons storing them etc. etc etc. You get the picture.

(C) All of the above...
BTW & FYI, there are a number of fine DAO (Double Action Only) pistols available. They act exactly like a DAO revolver (the trigger must be "pulled through" to cock and fire the piece -- for every shot).

"....when you define...."
You have just defined the problem. When you, any other laymen and/or politician attempts to define esoteric technical matters of which they have insufficient knowledge, all sorts of abominations result.
A semi-automatic (Self-Loading) firearm is well defined in relavent literature (and revolvers are not included in that description, notwithstanding the unique, century old automatic-revolver discussed on this thread).
Our military coined the description "Assault Rifle" a half century ago. It has a specific size, function and ammunition, very unlike the bastardization concocted by various politicians that also includes handguns, shotguns and whatever else looks bad.
Your statement that "Just about any handgun is semi-automatic..." is absurd and displays a serious lack of firearm knowledge.

Doesn't that directly contravene this morning's ruling? Is he spitting in the face of SCOTUS already?? Yes, he just peed on the Supreme Court.

Fenty is not heading down the right road here. The USSC almost never finds anyone in contempt, but he’s angling to get himself in the Federal clink for a decade or so while the black robes get around to hearing his contempt case.

One of the leaps in technology to come out of the Iraq war is bionic limb replacements. Someone with a bionic finger can theoretically pull the trigger 30 times in half a second. I wonder if the ATF will get into the regulation of bionic finger performance. I'm sure they will under an Obama administration.
