Our good friend Darlene Brennan, known as the feisty SheLion here on Free Republic has passed away. We had an inkling that she was sick, but she kept her own counsel when we would ask about her declining posts on FR.
We'll all miss one tough fighter for freedom.

This is horrible. SheLion was one of my all-time favorite freepers. I was on her anti-smoking Nazi ping list but really got to "know" her on a more personal level when I visited the tiny, out-of-the-way hamlet she lived in in Maine for a concert. I freepmailed her for some local "tips" and she was more than gracious with helping me plan my trip. From that time on, her and I shared a great friendly rapport which I can only say about probably less than five freepers.
Today has been such a weird FR day for me. I've gone from being jubilant about the SCOTUS decision to literally having tears in my eyes over this in just a matter of minutes. If anyone here is able to contact family members of hers, please pass along my deepest condolences for an amazing woman.
