Hundreds of thousands of AR-15 style weapons are made and sold here in the US every year. Very common. Used lawfully. The assault weapons ban will never be back.
Texas v Lawrence overturned current and recent rulings by the Court, not to mention thousands of years of established precedents, definitions and wisdom. The Court rules whatever it wants whenever it wants.
It will come for the guns. Not right now, but now -- with the gun lobby defanged and molly-cated and pleasured by Heller -- the chances are so much higher that a near future court packed with emotional will-of-the-wisps will overrule. They'll take guns. They'll take knifes. They might even take our forks -- if we are submissive they could leave spoons, bowls and straws though.
And the AR-15 design rifles are arguably the type of firearm in common use for militia purposes today, as evidenced by practically every US Soldier and Marine being issued one. It will be very hard indeed for the antis to claim an AR-15 is unusual or uncommon.
The opinion does seem to be helpful in that regard. Not sure though how it effects select fire/ full auto.
"Unusually dangerous?" Not really.
despite the LIES told by the media & the LEFT, "Miller" protects the right to be ARMED with "Militia Weapons".
otoh, "crudely sawed-off 16 guage shotguns" are NOT militia weapons (according to Miller, those weapons which are "suitable for defense of self, home, state & nation".), but "rather criminal instrumentalities, suitable to rob a liquor store".
thus a M-16, M-14, M-4, pump/automatic shotgun, 9mm pistol, .45 ACP pistol and other similar "police & military" type weapons), etc are MILITIA WEAPONS, the ownership/use of which are PROTECTED by the BOR!!

The brief further says that the ban of a whole class of firearms is unconstitutional. Then it goes on to say that MODERN WEAPONS are protected by the 2A just like modern media devices.
I believe that THIS will end any attempts in instituting a new AWB and is probably grounds for overturning the 1986 machine gun ban!
Let’s see, what type of machine gun do I want. Hmmmm...... pistol caliber or rifle caliber..... decisions, decisions....
