This is why I'm voting for McCain. Imagine the type of person Barry would nominate to join the Leftist Four on the Court!
Amen, bro.
I agree completely. Whoever McCain nominates they’re sure to be far better than Obama’s choices.
5-4 decision, one majority, two dissenting opinions. It will be interesting to see where the dissents diverge from the majority opinion and where they concur, but come to different conclusions.
Or, to say the same thing another way:
Does anyone want to try to make the case that “it doesn’t matter who’s President”?
Shout it from the mountaintops... 5-4 is cutting it too close.
I happy that Heller was affirmed, but I’m shocked that it was a 5 - 4 decision. Should have been 9 - 0.
All of the amendments to the Constitution are individual rights. In addition, the founding fathers, in their papers, were absolutely clear about gun ownership being an individual right (to enable the citizens to fight back against a possible tyranny).
To be honest, I was going to stay home on election day because I’m not all that thrilled with McCain.
However, after realizing that we are only one Supreme Court justice removed from losing our rights and our country, I’ve changed my mind and I’ll be voting on November 4th for McCain. Judges in general.....and the Supreme Court in particular....is the reason I’ll vote; plus we, as a country, can’t put our military and the War on Terror in the hands of Obama and his fellow commies.
McCain is not a conservative and would be facing a Democrat Senate. McCain understands there is no way the Senate would approve a SCOTUS justice even moderately conservative. In the spirit of bipartisanship, McCain would "reach across the aisle" and, with the advise of his friend Kennedy, would nominate a liberal/moderate that the Democrats would approve.
We don't need imagination, Barry has already told us.
Barack Hussein Obama, says of his nominees, We need somebody whos got the heart, the empathy, to recognize what its like to be a young teenage mom, the empathy to understand what its like to be poor or African-American or gay or disabled or old and thats the criteria by which Ill be selecting my judges.
John McCain says of his nominees, The duties and boundaries of the Constitution are not just a set of helpful suggestions. They are not just guidelines to be observed when its convenient and loosely interpreted when it isnt. In federal and state courts there are still men and women who understand the proper role of our judiciary and I intend to find them and promote them. My nominees will understand that there are clear limits to the scope of judicial power.
