National Intelligence Council Chairman Thomas Fingar said no clandestine intelligence was used and that intelligence officers extrapolated what would happen if the “mid-level estimates” by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change were correct. When Hoekstra asked why the U.S. Intelligence Community would write an major analysis of low to medium confidence that contained no intelligence, Fingar answered, “because you [Congress] told us to.”

Why not? Back in the Clinton era and prior to the GOP take over, Congress passed quite a few laws diverting intelligence assets to environmental issues. Hope those who stayed home last election because the GOP wasn’t conservative enough enjoy all this.
What passes for intelligence in that cesspool of half-formed life called “Congress” wouldn’t qualify a toddler for pre-school.
I except, of course, intelligent Representatives like Curt Weldon and Tom Tancredo.
We should also assess the threat to US security posed by manbearpig and zombie attacks.
