SAN FRANCISCO: Reagan has his highways. Lincoln has his memorial. Washington has the capital, and a state, too. But President George W. Bush may soon be the sole president to have a memorial named after him that you can contribute to from the bathroom.

prize-winning water-treatment plant on the shoreline to the George W. Bush Sewage Plant.

Not surprisingly, those Republicans in a city that voted 83 percent Democratic in 2004 are not thrilled with the idea

...liberal America is about to try an elect it's own Zimbabwe President wannabe ..

I think, for some reason, that liberal America loves the idea of the destruction of our carefully constructed civilization and our functioning economy. For some reason, these things bother the liberals and instead of being proud of the fact that the US is different from primitive places like Zimbabwe, they're ashamed. They want us all down at the level of third-world hell-holes, and with his majesty the tribal chieftan and his goons in the White House, they'll get it.

Supporters say that they have plenty of signatures to qualify the initiative and that the renaming would fit in a long and proud American tradition of poking political figures in the eye.

It such a tradition that the author names no other examples. That's of course because it is pure poppycock. Many politicans of little or no merit have had their name appropriated for public housing, libraries, streets, squares, etc. but the point is to honor/remember (insert pol name here). Sewage plants obviously tend to never be named in honor/memorial so once again we see the pure childish nature of "serious" liberals.

"Most politicians tend to be narcissistic and egomaniacs," said Brian McConnell, an organizer who regularly suits up as Uncle Sam to solicit signatures. "So it is important for satirists to help define their history rather than letting them define their own history."

Somehow I have a feeling that Mr. McConnell (an "organizer" just like Obama) doesn't consider the vast majority of liberal politicians in San Fran narcissistic or egomamniacs - just Republicans.

The choice of those interviewed coupled with the quotes chosen clearly reveals the authors intent to create an impression that this is typical satire perpetrated on both Dems and Pubs. What a bunch of hooey.

Obama's DC, after he assumes office. We can rename the nation "The Nuked States of Obamerica's Liberal Idiots."

To paraphrase the movie 'Ninotchka', "There are going to be fewer, but better, Liberals".

Reagan has his highways.

I wish something other than an airport had been named for Ronald Reagan.

In a perverse way it’s a compliment, at least from the liberal point of view. In the “green” obsessed and frenzied liberal mind recyclying waste is the ultimate sacrament. Sewage plants are to liberals as churches are to conservatives.

I think it's a fitting tribute since the Middle East was a dung pile where terrorist with names like Hussein and Osama could foment hatred against the U.S. and train killers to murder Americans.

George "sewage treatment plant" Bush sent in our soldiers and "treated" the "sewage" and one day in the not to distant future, what was once undrinkable sludge will be clean drinking water.

Too bad it was such a big job or he might have been able to make it to San Fran too.

I think this is a great idea.

The left-wing loonies are admitting that it takes a Republican to clean up all their crap.

My understanding is that it wouldn't get much use due to the fact that all of the bums and vagrants couldn't be bothered to use a public toilet and just defecate on the streets.

Actually, this proposal makes sense, but not in the way San Francisco Democrats mean it. George W. Bush has been cleaning up liberal crap for over 7 years already, why not turn liberal s**t into something non-toxic forever?

There was a really dumb movie out there, “Idiocracy”, it is starting to look like a documentary of the future of the US, even down to the cars of the future.

I laughed when the prostitute was trying to call her pimp from the future. The automated voice asked for the name of the person she was trying to call so she says "Upgrade" (her pimps name).

The voice comes back and says "There are 527,623 listings for 'Upgrade' "

LOL, its kind of sad when the movie doesn’t seem far fetched anymore.

It looks like it is the culmination of a world that was run by the liberal mentality!

I think this is quite fitting. Dems spew crap in Washington, Bush has to clean it up. Dems spew crap in SF, Bush has to clean it up.

San Francisco is a sewerage repository! If anyone wanted to give our country an enema, then SF would be a good candidate to receive the prone!

All this proves is how childish and vindictive liberals are. They can’t get enough of “bathroom” humor. I’d expect a left wing, rebellious toddler to come up with something like this.

Actually as someone mentioned on one of these threads yesterday, that would be a way of saying Bush had to clean up all the cr@* the previous administration left during X-42's eight years.
