H/T to Larry Elder for catching this. Chris Cuomo interviews a Gloucester pregnant teen (17) and her boyfriend (20). The two kids have acted in a totally irresponsible manner, yet Cuomo conducts a touchy-feely, approving interview. Also noted by Larry, these girls are under 18 and the prospective "fathers" are over 18. Can anyone say statutory rape?

Can anyone say statutory rape?Well, statutory rape is, of course, dependent on the statute. What's the age of consent on Massachusetts?

18 And there doesn't seem to be the exception that many states have for "close in age". For example, in Texas if the younger is 14 or older and the age difference is less than 3 years, that is a defense to prosecution for the crime of sexual abuse of a child. In some states it's 4 years. But not in Massachusetts. In MA, if a girl has sex with her 17 yrs 11 months and 29 days boyfriend on her 18th birthday, she's guilty of "unlawful sexual intercourse", IOW statutory rape.

Age of consent in Massachusetts (as in most of the several states) is 16. Why do FReepers from the states where the legislature has incoherently decided that sexually mature human beings are ‘children’ because they haven’t reached voting age yet insist on assuming that is the norm?

I am amazed more people have not commented on this. It’s as if none of these people ever heard of the notion of right and wrong. Chilling.
