Jesus Christ wouldn’t vote for anyone. He’s THE King so why would he?
Hmmm... “Investing in America’s Future” Now, where have I seen/heard THAT before?
I love that, MrLee - I’m going to steal that and use it every time I hear the inane “Who Would Jesus Vote For” line!!!
Many people 30 and under do not have any knowledge of the Bible so Obama could say whatever he wanted distort and they will believe him... Just the failure of society to the next generation....
***What IS an evangelical?***
Thank you for asking that. I was about to ask the same question. It appears to be used as an all-encompassing word. However, I expect it is used to imply that ALL Christian religions are of the same stripe as the T.V. evangelists, some of whom have been revealed to be the opposite of what they preach.
People like Mr. Obama should limit their careers to selling used cars our snake oil [apologies to the used car salesmen and snake oil merchants out there]...

The doctor described himself as a Christian who understood his commitments to be "totalizing." His faith led him to a strong opposition to abortion and gay marriage, although he said that his faith also led him to question the idolatry of the free market and quick resort to militarism that seemed to characterize much of the Republican agenda
Granted Obama didn't say that he said that.,...but he likely believes it...

Does not the Communist Faith believe in ....the idolatry of the free market
ie...that markets should NOT be FREE>>>>?
I did see that quote. But when I read the part you highlighted:
... although he said that his faith also led him to question the idolatry of the free market and quick resort to militarism that seemed to characterize much of the Republican agenda...
it seemed to be a fictitious remark.
If Mr. Christian doctor doesn't like money and wants to give it away -- then by all means he should want to live in a country that allows him the freedom to do so. I suspect Mr. Christian doctor knows this, but this 'website' comment was by some fictitious strawman poster that allowed Saint Obama to magnamously back away from the 'over the top' comments by his overzealous (yet well meaning) website managers regarding Mr. Obama's 'Abortion Uber Alles' positioning.
But I agree, your further analysis of this comment is pretty revealing. The use of phrase 'idolatry of the free market', is probably directly from Mr. Obama's heart (I believe that he, or one of his minions, actually wrote the 'Mr. Christian Doctor' email -- but even if not, I agree with your assessment that Mr. Obama concurs with this phrase). And its from the heart of a communist. Nothing more distasteful than freedom and free markets. Can't have any of that when we have our benighted betters that want to lead the unwashed...
In his 2006 speech, Obama was using the same talking points as Martin Sheen used in “West Wing,” when he confronted the right-wing talk show host—the one based on Dr. Laura, I think. Stoning children, no shellfish, etc. The argument goes: Since we don’t stone wayward sons, and we eat shellfish, therefore Partial-Birth Abortion is okay.
What kind of “family” is this? Parents with two names? Children with two names? Are they even married?
I think Barrack Hussein Obama knows his koran better than he knows his bible.
Evangelize comes from the Greek, “euaggelizo” used in conjunction with the verb “preach”, specifically the “Gospel”. By implication, an “Evangelical” is one who preaches, or heralds the Gospel to the world.
Once upon a time, the word used to describe these people over the last 2,000 years, was “Christian”. However, with such apostasy in the world today (homosexual bishops, LDS, RCC...and everyone else using anything other than Holy Scriptures to form their doctrine), the lines have been blurred.
So the world has to call these people something in order to distinguish evangelicals from everyone else, purporting to be Christian. That doesn’t mean all evangelicals have pure doctrine. But that’s another discussion.
The distinction between an “evangelical” and a “Christian”, from a world view, appears to be those who are not silent about their faith; and their faith in Christ is centered in all matters of political, social, and religious discussion.
From a Bible-believer point of view, the difference is (1) those who actually live out the Bible openly by studying it and applying it to their lives in obedience to the Lord Jesus Christ; and (2) those who may wear crosses around their neck, may darken the door of a church on Christmas and Easter, but call themselves “Christians” nonetheless in order to align themselves with something viewed as wholesome, or to fulfill the need to produce a sense of security (false as it is), knowing little or nothing about the Bible/and the orthodox interpretation thereof.
That sounds like a lot, but it’s simple: does a person calling him/herself a Christian make it so? It is impossible to be a Christian, not having believed and acted upon the gospel.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 is the Gospel. If you believe in the Gospel and have repented of your sins, trusting Jesus as payment for your sins on the cross by His death, burial, and resurrection: you are saved according to God’s Word. If not, you are lost and headed for hell. I ask you refrain from dying before finding a quiet place asking (plead even) for Jesus to open your eyes to His truth.
Here’s the Truth:
Romans 3:23 (no one is just before God)
Romans 6:23 (your sin earns you hell)
John 3:16 (God loves you so much, He gave His son to save you)
John 14:6 (Jesus is the only way)
Romans 10:9-10 (belief in your heart saves)
1 Cor 15:1-4 (believe what? The Gospel)
Ephesians 8:9-10 (no one earns salvation; it’s a gift of God by faith)
John 10:28 (eternal security)
In His Service.
Be my guest! :-)
Thank you for the wonderful explanation.
Just to add to the previous excellent responses, here is a website which offers a good explanation of what “Evangelicals” believe to be required for salvation. I belong to a non-denomination church, which is frequently described as “Evangelical,” and this is certainly what we believe. My son is also attending a college which describes itself as “Evangelical,” and this describes their basic tenants as well.

However, some talking heads would define “Evangelical” differently. I’ve noted that their descriptions center more around politics than religion.

Ahh, and that’s precisely why I questioned the media’s use of the word, “Evangelical.”
I’m sure they use it to make it appear that all Christians are guilty of politicizing their religion.
Thanks for your thoughtful reply.
