Doug: I still remember late 1995 and early 1996 when you and I were just about the only callers to the Lowell Ponty Show. I was “Dave from Arizona.” I still remember all your limericks against Bill and Hill during those dreadful times.

Lowell got mad at me for trashing Dole, though I reluctantly voted for him later that year. Lowell started cutting me off so that ended that. But I think it's great that Hillary sends you these virtual love notes.

One night I drove down to Lowell’s studio and was on with him for three hours. At his home, he had a guest house. It was absolutely filled with great books.

Lowell, by the way, was the author three decades ago of the Readers Digest piece, THE COOLING. He’s a good guy.
