In a historic appointment, President Bush selects Lt. Gen. Ann Dunwoody to direct the Army Materiel Command.
WASHINGTON -- President Bush on Monday nominated a top logistics officer to be the first female four-star general in U.S. history, tapping Lt. Gen. Ann E. Dunwoody to head the command responsible for supplying the Army with all its equipment.
Dunwoody's selection as chief of Army Materiel Command comes nearly 11 years after the first female three-star general was appointed, as head of Army intelligence, and 38 years after the first two female Army one-stars were named.

Clinton was going to nominate Lt Gen Claudia Kennedy head of the DIA, which would probably given her an additional star, but the Senate said she wouldn’t fly.
Speaking of Claudia Kennedy, some say she’s on Obama’s short list to be a running mate.
Material Command! Oh now there’s an insult! What’s she going to spend her time on, picking out the latest line of materials for the oh so in fashion in camouflage? Disgraceful and an insult to women!!!
What’s that? Not material. Materiel?
Oh, never mind.
She is a Master Blaster?
WTF?
She’s a three-star general...
What are you???
You, pimple in the ass of humanity, are not worthy of licking her shoes clean.
And on that note, I congratulate LtGen Dunwoody on her promotion, and thank her for her service to this country.
And as for you, I doubt you’ve ever done anything useful for the country.
Can’t be true... EVERYONE knows that the Rethuglicans are only an Old Boys network and will never let a woman get ahead...

She comes from a military family, one that has served the county since the Civil War. Including her HUSBAND.
By the way for all you non-serving, assholes that may post on this thread. Master Blaster means she probably does have more balls than you.
Apparently that particular grandmother does wear Army boots. ;)
Well said, El Conservador.
And thanks for the info, 11Bush.
LOL
she must have been a real joy to work under, while she was PMS-img all those years.

WOW he’s pretty old, huh? :)
Congratulations to a well deserving and very brave lady. What a great way to make history.
Your comment is shameful and inappropriate to someone serving our nation in time of war.
I don't know. Do your employees complain when you are?
According to the information in your post, this was her assignment during Operation Desert Shield/Storm, but I have no idea what it means.
