He saved about $75-$80k on his mortgages, that we know of.
That is nothing but a bribe paid in instalments!
I’d love to see a list of the Congress critters net worth when they took office compared to their net worth after they have been in office for a few terms.
Bet that would be an eye opener.
No kidding. Why would you spend millions to get elected to a job that pays $150k?
Not as shameful as the MSM lack of interest, but still, shameful.
You're right - it's hard to believe he didn't know.
Most of our wonderful congresscritters came to office as members of the middle class ( limited money )-- and within a few years they're millionaires.
I suspect graft and cheating. (Within their so called "rules" and self-serving games of innocence an 18 year old would blush at...) The facts show these ordinary men didn't make big money UNTIL after they were elected.
I don't care how carefully they fool themselves - or how meticulous they are in making sure no one actually TELLS them they're getting a great deal. We know who they are - we can see them for what they are and it's shameful.

Thomas Dodd
Kevin Anderson holds up a manila folder labeled “Dodd’s Free Vacation.” In the mid-1960s, Jack Anderson investigated and wrote extensively about Sen. Thomas J. Dodd of Connecticut, alleging corruption and bribery. (Anderson’s sources were staff members within Dodd’s own office.) The reporting effectively ended Dodd’s political career.
A memorandum inside the folder outlines a travel itinerary for Dodd, including his free accommodations at the ritzy Galt Ocean Mile Hotel in Fort Lauderdale.

In 1967, Sen. Dodd’s father, then-Sen. Thomas Dodd, was censured for spending $116,000 in campaign cash on personal expenses.
