Asking Them to Subsidize Sin (You won't believe what's happening in "Catholic" SF,CA )
calcatholic.com ^ | June 22, 2008 | Gibbons Cooney

On June 3, just a few weeks after the California Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, San Francisco Catholic Charities-CYO held its 2008 Red House Fundraiser.

[[SachetMiller062208.jpg]]According to the Catholic Charities-CYO web site, the annual event has been held since 2004. This year’s fundraiser, reports the site, was held “in the heart of the Castro.”

The co-chairs of the event and the honorary committee members were a Who’s Who of same-sex “marriage” supporters.

They included:

Nanette Lee Miller, treasurer of CCCYO, who “married” another woman in 2004, yet still serves on CCCYO’s board.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who said of the court’s decision: “By the way, as California goes, so goes the rest of the nation… this is the future and it is now.”

San Francisco County Supervisor Bevan Dufty, who said: "I think it is a win for justice and a win for California and a win for the future.”

Rebecca Rolph, executive director of the San Francisco LGBT Center, who said: "This is the best day of my professional life.”

[[CahillDufty062208.jpg]]Donna Sachet, a transvestite and member of the board of Equality California, was also an honorary committee member, and was in attendance. Equality California was one of the plaintiffs in the Supreme Court case that brought about legal same-sex marriage in California.

There is nothing hidden about any of this. The CCCYO web site has a picture of their executive director, Brian Cahill, posing with his arm around Supervisor Dufty. The site also has a picture of CCCYO treasurer Nanette Miller posing with Equality California board member Sachet.

We could say. “What’s the big deal, they have the right to do this,” except for one thing: the Archdiocese of San Francisco mandates that every one of its parishes hold a special annual second collection to support this organization.

In April, I said that the Archdiocese of San Francisco must either radically change CCCYO, or sever ties with the organization. Within two months of that writing, CCCYO has honored Mr. George Marcus and Levi Strauss Inc., both gigantic funders of the culture of death. It has hosted the event described above, which makes a mockery of Church teaching on marriage. Asking the parishioners to support CCCYO is to ask them to subsidize sin.

I guess we shouldn't be surprised but is time for Pope Benedict to "throw the hammer down!"

Amost every organization has dollar signs in its eyes and will act accordingly. As the liberals said in Watergate, keep your eyes on the money!

Sure sounds like California is building the modern age Sodom and Gomorrah. Nancy Pelosi should be so proud.

“Catholic Charities” bases none of its decisions on Catholic teaching, unless forced to do so by a particular bishop. It’s infested with left-wingers who long only to suck at the government teat and will adopt any policy that gets them that money.

I didn’t realize CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) had gone that way, too.

It’s utterly disgraceful that the bishops permit and even encourage this. But not surprising. Neiderauer is horrible and simply follows in a long line of horrible SF bishops who are completely opposed to the teachings of the Church.

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who said of the court’s decision: “By the way, as California goes, so goes the rest of the nation… this is the future and it is now.”

A soiciety that not only condones, but promotes homosexuality with a usurped ruling, and yet is supposed to recognize a "Creator" for it's inalienable rights, is doomed to destroy itself.

Excuse me, but for the 1001th time, I wish you “out-of-towners” would cease putting everyone in CA in the same basket as the fraction & disgraceful who live in SF, Berkeley & Malibu, thank you.

FYI, there are MILLIONS more practicing Catholics and other conservatives in CA than any other state in the Union.

Catholic Charities is one of the most thoroughly evil organizations in this country. I am not surprised to read of its close connection with the whole gay agenda as it shares the gays’ purpose to remake America into something its bishops apparently prefer to what is here now. In the Northeast, Catholic Charities has been in the forefront of the relocation of thousand and thousands of Somali Mohammedans into smallish communities, collecting millions in federal “refugee” money and then handing the bill to support these subhumans to the local communities. When anyone complains, local Catholic priests and nuns in pantsuits show up screaming about hate crimes and demanding prosecutions of people who are simply exercising their free speech rights. The bishops back them 100%. In one northern city, the mayor, whom some say is brain dead, is convinced if he panders to every desire of the Mohammedans, he’ll “get a bigger mansion in heaven” because the bishop told him so.

I have never fully understood why people get so wound up about Catholic theology, but I do understand how they can get so incensed by the actions of that Church here in America.

Lets not get carried away. Newsom has about as much credibility as a screen door on a submarines. LOL

After the next SF earthquake, all of these clowns will be looking for the nearest Catholic church.

“I still don’t understand WHY gays want to marry.”

They’re trying to legitimize their immorality.

God doesn’t “buy” it.

YOU are excused. What starts in California always moves WEST and my point was NOT about Catholics but LIBERALISM of which Nancy the QUEEN Pelosi is the 'PEOPLES' leader as speaker of the HOUSE.

NOW just as an aside I know a person of this mindset that until a few months ago was one of those 'out-of-towners' that moved to the 'fair' city of San Franny just for the reason for what it is come to be known to be. Oh and this person is NOT Catholic and while this specific article is about the Church I did NOT say anything about the Church being responsible.

There’s an excellent new book by Phil Lawler, The Faithful Departed. It’s about the collapse of the Church in Boston. He points out that the seeds of this were planted even before Vatican II, when the successive bishops of Boston began to regard the policies of the Democratic Party as being on the same level as the deposit of Faith. They did this for practical reasons, the material advantages of being in with the in-crowd, since the Dems completely ruled Boston and many of them were of Irish descent and therefore Catholic to begin with. It was a natural progression in the faithless minds of the bishops (such as Cardinal Cushing, mouthpiece of the Dems).

I think we’re simply seeing this on a grand, national scale now. What happened at Vatican II was that the bishops took the bit between their teeth - and Rome, which had weakened its own authority for various misguided reasons, was unable to do anything about it. The question now, as many US and European bishops become more and more rebellious every day, is what Rome will be able to do about it.

Shouting doesn't make you correct. And "what starts in California always moves West?" doesn't make any sense..where is it going? into the Pacific ocean? LOL

Again, you are throwing the 34 MILLION people in CA and the over 300 MILLION people in America in the same basket with less than ten percent of the population who are Leftists.

Pelosi will be a mere asterisk in American politics in less than 10 years and while Liberals are aborting their offspring; conservatives in CA and across America are flourishing; so it's not a matter of “if” but "when" conservatives become the majority in CA and America.

I suppose had they been around at the time, a lot of liberal Catholics would have supported the Gomorrah Chamber of Commerce as well.

They just can’t get it through their minds that the church isn’t a social club.

“liberal Catholics?”

For the record, there is no such thing as a “liberal” Catholic. Those who do not practice their faith and abide by the Ten Commandments are what we call in the Catholic Church, CINO’s or “Catholics in Name Only”. In any case they are not “practicing” Catholics. “The confessional is on the right as you enter the church.” BIG SMILE
