The presence of wealthy transplants and foreigners causes real estate costs to be high (even after the recent correction) considering that salaries are low. I was lucky that when I worked in Miami, I was salary plus commission based on how much business I brought in, otherwise I would have never worked down there.
The high gasoline prices are already hurting our tourist industry.

I’m in his damned district. I just can’t find all the mental hospitals that house all the poeple who voted for him.
You could have the tourist industry AND the oil industry but that’s OK, lots of other places want it.
Your state is not exactly easy for tourist to get to when gasoline and air fares are high so I can see why the tourist industry is slipping. You need another industry.
Florida has always appealed to retired people and you wonder why the number of school children is dwindling. I don’t think you have a very good grasp of things.
Don’t feel bad. I’m from CA and I’m looking for the looney bins that bus their patients to the polls on election day to vote for Barbara Boxer.
Have you checked the Century Village? A lot of them are hiding out in there.
