Kristi Boone of Olathe never planned to file for the Kansas Legislature when this election year began.
Neither had Chris Napolitano of Lenexa nor Judy Macy of Overland Park nor Sean Tevis of Olathe.
They changed their minds, though, after attending the Democratic Partys Feb. 5 presidential caucuses in Kansas. Now they are running as Democrats in Republican-rich Johnson County.
All were swept along by a tide of enthusiasm for Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, the partys presumptive presidential nominee, and Democratic successes in Kansas in 2006.

I wish Phill Kline would move out of state, but the shifty p@!# would probably keep an apartment in the state and run anyway.
Ok, ok, I did it just to goose you a bit. I can't help it sometimes.
*snicker*
How can you describe someone who twice promises not to run for another term and then goes back on his word as someone with integrity?
I would have been happy if Phill had even moved to Johnson County, seeing as how he's holding office here.
I was just yanking your chain. It's the Irish in me sometimes. I know Phill stole your woman and shot your dog. When I saw your post I couldn't resist.
Not that at all. Phill's just an unprincipled idiot and a drag on the local GOP. Come January he'll be gone and my sense of humor should be back by then.
Just kidding. He hasn't a hope. Too bad too, he has really cleaned up the DA’s office. About time they got someone in with integrity, not that Morrison guy. I hear convictions are way up. I wonder if Morrison was corrupt in more ways than one...?
Ok,I'll stop.
Knock yourself out. But Jesus Christ Himself couldn't save Phill's political career, and I don't see you walking on no water.
Too bad too, he has really cleaned up the DAs office.
Actually no, he hasn't. The DAs office is really disorganized. Phill is coming close to blowing the most high-profile murder case we have right now - he's been hauled before the judge on several occasions for witholding evidence and if he doesn't start complying with the judge's orders he may have to toss it.
About time they got someone in with integrity, not that Morrison guy.
Phill may be keeping his pecker where it belongs, but I would call anyone who twice promises not to run for re-election and then files anyway someone with integrity. Phill knows he hasn't a hope of winning. But he plans on hitting the anti-abortion lecture circuit come January and he'll attract far more sympathy as Phill Kline, the man who fought the good fight and was robbed of his office by the corrupt Tiller/Morrison/Sebelius/fill-in-the-blank death machine than he would as Phill Kline, retired DA. So that's he sole purpose in running, and if it means that the Democrats take the DAs office as well then that's perfectly OK with him.
I hear convictions are way up.
You hear wrong. I haven't seen any published statistics indicating convictions are up at all, much less way up. On the other hand I've heard stories that Phill's staff is padding what convictions they do have by offering sweet-heart plea bargains. Not sure exactly how much there is to that, either.
I wonder if Morrison was corrupt in more ways than one...?
Morrison may well have been a man without morals or political integrity but he was an excellent DA who build the Johnson Couty office into one of the best in the nation. Phill gutted it. The best we can hope for is that Howe beats Phill in the primary and then he'll be the heavy favorite in November.
Wow, pull the stick out or you will hurt yourself when you sit down.
You really do have it in for him. And, it sounds like it is personal too. What were you, feuding neighbors when he lived in Shawnee?
Not personal at all. How about you? Phill owe you money or something?
I wish. It would be nice to have someone owe me money instead of me paying bills.
And, the “Not personal at all” rings hollow.
It will ring in whatever way you are predisposed to wanting it to ring.
I have no dog in this fight. But my observation is; after Kline gets trounced in the primaries, who are the 'Pubs going to blame for their defeats in November?
Kline is everyone's favorite whipping boy --both sides. But he will be gone before November. The GOP is so screwed up in Kansas it isn't funny. Maybe the RINOs here will finally leave the party and come out of the closet and register as the DIMs that they truly are.
RINOs are the GOP's problem, not Kline.
