I don’t particularly care if someone uses that phrase while campaigning, it’s almost a given when running for President. What I care about is if they actively undermine the party through their actions in or out of office (as Huckster and *omney did, and Rudy in his early years as Mayor). Fred never did that and he always went the extra mile to help the party, even when there was nothing in it for him. Was Fred 100% right ? Nope, but he was right enough that I could support him for President without it causing grave damage to my conscience (why I’ve still yet to endorse McCain).

Well, it sure didn't have any effect on Fred's conscience. As soon as McCain secured the nomination the only thing on the page at Fred's URL was the word "success."

Yeehaw!

Fred whoring for Linc Chafee IN THE PRIMARY (nevermind the general election where you could excuse it as him trying to "help" the GOP maintain a majority) is worse than ANYTHING Graham ever did.

How did Fred's efforts to destroy a geninue Republican in the primary "help this country"? All it did is help the D.C. status quo keep "their guys" in control. We saw exactly how "electable" Chafee was in November. You're naive if you think Fred had any other motivaition for doing it besides keeping on the good side of his "buddies" in Washington establishment.

It's a well known FACT you guys screamed bloody murder when the NRSC assisted Chafee in the primary -- given how many freepers vowed to never donate to them again afterwards, so don't try to pretend this is a minor issue.

Linc Chafee is so far left he makes Russ Feingold look conservative. That's not my opinion, that's data showing how the two scored with conservative organizations across the nation.

Fred acutally claimed he agreed with Chafee on "most issues". I wonder if Fred still thinks that's true with Chafee being a top Obama supporter now.

Fortunately, I'm sure Fred didn't actually BELIEVE the crap he spewed about Chafee. If he had, we could write this guy off as having joined the Judy Barr Topinka wing of the party.

Fred is about helping his Senate buddies keep the status quo in this country. Period.
