$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Who gets to pay all the bills for these babies ..... the mamas, the "parents", the daddies or the taxpayers?

I thought I heard a reporter say that the school had "day care" and the kids wanted the school to raise their babies while they were still students. In other words, they planned to let the state pick up the tab. Of course I could be incorrect, but it sounds about right.

“Status in Gloucester is hard to come by,” Miller said. “The once-thriving fishing community has seen jobs drift overseas. Economic depression has left many teens trying to fill the void.”
It seems odd that the media would be so quick to admit that the liberal utopia of Massachusetts is experiencing an economic “depression,” particularly after they socialized their health care system. I bet she did not clear that with the top brass before she said it.
“teens trying to fill the void...”
Now really, was that imagery necessary?

Yes, lets blame the economy (and by extension, President Bush) instead of blaming the culture that sexualizes kids at an early age and romanticizes out-of-wedlock pregnancy.

Funny, I don’t recall a rash of small town teen pregnancies when the mills shut down in NC over the past years.
Don’t recall the same in Texas when oil went bust 20 years ago.
Don’t recall the same in Pittsburgh when steel went bust decades ago.
To: Rufus2007
So teenagers don’t engage in promiscuous sexual activity when the economy is good?
Boy, I learn something new from CBS everyday..

The shocking thing here is that someone, somewhere, is watching CBS news.

The taxpayers.
That’s why the daddies, the mamas, and the parents have no incentives to NOT do/allow stupid crap like this to happen.
Make those making the decisions fully responsible for the consequences and costs, and you won’t see this crap anymore.

Yeah, I knew the answer - not sure if it ever came out in the story though.
I'm with you ... end all the freebies now. When did welfare become a career choice?

Glochester is pretty much full of white trash. These girls are no doubt products of moms who did the same thing.

"More disturbing is the fact that we have a 24 year old running around preying on 15 and 16 year old girls and the police haven't arrested him"
On the news it was reported that unless there was a formal complaint made, the police would not file charges.

You don’t need a formal complaint to investigate a crime.
