Well, there is a precident...
There was a time when the Tiffany Network simply got it right.
Now decisions are made by “the news children” who WANT stories like this to be right, regardless of the facts.
Years ago, in the old UPI City Room in Chicago, there hung a sign with sage words of advice to all reporters and editors:
“If your mother says she loves you,
Check it out!”
Today, that sign would be ignored.
Has CBS yet clarified the story? No doubt they have a good explanation on how this story matched their motto: "Fake but Accurate".
