ADC Calls on Sen. Obama to Personally Address Hijab Removal Incidents at Detroit Campaign Rally
Washington, DC | June 18, 2008 | www.adc.org | Today, the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) sent a letter to presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Senator Barack Obama regarding two separate troubling incidents that occurred in Detroit, Michigan. Michigan is home to the largest concentration of Arab Americans in our nation and ADC is the largest civil rights organization working on behalf of the Arab-American community
On Monday, Obama campaign workers and volunteers barred two Muslim women from sitting behind the podium because they did not want the women's hijabs (headscarves) from appearing in photographs or on television with Senator Obama. One of the women was told she could be behind the podium only if she removed her religious head covering. See story in the Politico at: www.politico.com/news/stories/0608/11168.html
In the letter to Senator Obama, ADC President Hon. Mary Rose Oakar and ADC National Executive Director Kareem Shora asked the Senator to take the leadership in addressing this troubling issue and to personally send the message to everyone associated with the Obama Campaign, and all Americans, that such incidents of intolerance and disrespect will not be tolerated in the campaign just as they would not be tolerated in an Obama Administration. CLEVELAND -- Former Cleveland Congresswoman Mary Rose Oakar has a key National Democratic Party job which could give her a role refereeing a superdelegate fight between Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Oakar is one of three chairpersons of the Democratic Convention Rules Committee.
She will help make decisions about seating delegates, the fate of the Florida and Michican primaries and the "hows" and "whats" of a possible deciding superdelegate vote.
She hopes the candidates can come to a solution on thier own before the August convention.
Right now, Senator Clinton has won all the big states.
Senator Obama has won more states, more delegates and more popular votes.
But it seems unlikely either can get the needed 2,025 delegates from the remaining primaries.
Oakar believes the best ticket would be some combination of both candidates.
She discussed the situation this week with Democratic Party Chairman Howard Dean.
She promises to be fair, objective and do what's best for the Party.
She discusses these issues in an exclusive interview with Tom Beres.

classic Catch 22, not respond, trouble, respond and not place them behind him in the next speech, trouble, respond and place them behind in the next speech, trouble
I wonder if this will be on the evening news tonight?
No, I guess not.
They're going to find out how it feels to be thrown under the MSM bus. They'll learn: no one is allowed to sully the turban of the messiah.
Live by the photo op, die by the photo op...
Speaking of Catch 22’s imagine the position CAIR finds itself in at the moment.
I thought ADC stood for “Arabs for Dhimmi Control”
Still plenny o’ popcorn left over from the last show.
Hussein Obama is a Muslim, but he has to hide it until November. Once he is elected, he can serve his Arab masters in the middle east, and his Marxist masters (Soros, etc...) in the West. We are so screwed. McCain is going to lose big. He is this year’s Bob Dole, but I respected Bob Dole a heck of a lot more.
Yep.
The Rules Committee is responsible for proposing the Permanent Rules for the Convention, adopting the proposed Convention agenda and making recommendations for permanent Convention officers - all addressed as the second official item of business at the Convention. The committee will meet sometime in August, prior to the Convention.

wink, wink, nudge, nudge, know what I mean?
Dear ADC,
I regret the ommission of hijab-draped women from my photo-op, and would be more than happy to feature them promininetly in the future.
All I ask is that you guys stop blowing sh*t up.
Thanks, Hope, and Change,
Barry

Looks like he doesn't care.
Makes me want to organize a bunch of my buddies to start showing up in large numbers at Osamabamamama rallies in full burkhas. Just to get into as many pictures as possible. Damn, it would be a fun way to spend the summer.
Wall to wall coverage for sure!
