Obama’s Campaign Tightens Control of Image and Access
New York Times ^ | une 19, 2008 | JIM RUTENBERG and JEFF ZELENY

Posted on 06/18/2008 7:57:52 PM PDT by mdittmar

At a rally for Senator Barack Obama in Detroit on Monday, two Muslim women said they were prohibited from sitting behind the candidate because they were wearing head scarves and campaign volunteers did not want them to appear with him in news photographs or live television coverage.

The Obama campaign said it quickly called the women to apologize after learning of the incident. “It doesn’t reflect the orientation of the campaign,” said Anita Dunn, a senior adviser to Mr.Obama.“I do not believe that mistake will be made again.”

But the incident, first reported Wednesday byPolitico.com, pointed to pitfalls the campaign faces as it moves into the general election and seeks to maintain control of Mr. Obama’s image by tightly managing his public appearances.

The Obama campaign is vigilantly fighting erroneous information that has spread on the Internet that he is Muslim — he is,in fact,Christian — and emphasizing his patriotism and American story, with flags in abundance. In Washington on Wednesday, he invited photographers to his meeting with new members of his national security team and retired military officers supporting his candidacy.

The campaign on Monday barred cameras from a large gathering of African-American civic leaders Mr. Obama attended. It recently refused to provide names of religious figures with whom Mr. Obama met in Chicago and directed some of them to avoid reporters by using a special exit. And on Wednesday, the campaign orchestrated Michelle Obama’s appearance on the friendly set of “The View” and a flattering spread in the pages of Us Weekly.

“One of the challenges that we are confronting very directly is dealing with the rumors and the e-mails, the inaccurate information about Senator Obama and Michelle Obama,”Ms. Dunn said,“and we’re going to deal with that very aggressively through a number of mediums.”

I wonder why he considers himself black when his mother was White and his black father abandoned him? He talks about “Dreams of My Father” and searching for his black identity. It appears that the only dreams his father had were scoring with a stupid White chick and flyin’ the coop.

I hope that the Obammy campaign decides to deal fairly, politically correctly and multiculturally with all the poor downtrodden Muslims and Islamofascists that will be voting for him by showing as many turbaned, bearded, stupidly head scarfed Muslim women, etc. as possible on the platform with him and his lovely wife Michelle.

I know it would really make me want to vote for him

Yep. Some asian girl showed up to an event early to get a good seat behind the podium, and she was told to move by his "handlers" and replaced by a white person.

Anyone that concerns themselves that much with the racial makeup of those who will be seen on camera, is an out and out racist of the worst order.

What would people say if David Duke, in an attempt to show his "diversity," told white people to get up out of their seats so they could be replaced by black people? The press would freak! But not when their demi-god does it, and does it more than one time.

Obeymao is a dangerous SOB.

So hiding him away from the electorate is going to help resolve the problem?

URGENT

Please pass this on to other FReepers who might be able to chime in or give some advise on this... kindly advise here or Freepmail.

I've been told personally in the last few days that regardless of where I am - I am still subject to US law with regards to what I post with regards to Barack Obama - factual or not, posts or any correspondence of mine concerning a "US presidential candidate" that might be considered to be possibly inciteful or hateful are taken seriously.

What the hell is this about?

He’s not going to be able to keep that up forever, is he? He has to debate McCain sometime.

“Welcome to the New Politics.”

How new is it if NatLamp had this going? “Radio Hour” was done back in the mid-70’s, wasn’t it? (see below)

“Cue up Christopher Guest singing The Middle Class Liberal Well Intentioned Blues (from National Lampoon Radio Hour).”

Who told you that — and the only US law that applies is the 1st Amendment.

The 1st Amendment specifically protects political speech.

Post away.

Well, that settles it...Fox Friend Alisyn Camerota was just on a screaming rant that Barry Hussein is NOT a Muslim, he is a Christian, he has always been a Christian his whole life and the poor thing has even had to start a website to stop these evil smears and you can read her blog to see all the horrible things that people are writing about him every day. Well, I guess we know who she is voting for (not like we had any doubt).

“The Obama campaign is vigilantly fighting erroneous information that has spread on the Internet that he is Muslim”

The Obama campaign is vigilantly fighting correct information that has spread on the Internet that he is a zero accomplishment leftwing junior Senator with a lifetime history of associating with radicals, socialists and extremists.

To do so, they are using some exaggerations as a strawman to argue that *any* criticism of Obama is false and phony.

Obama is not a Muslim.

MCA-27024 from 1972. Featuring Christopher Guest. I’m looking at this album now. I’ll have to see if the “plus much, much more” includes this tune. Freegards,

Momma was an atheist and daddy was a non-observant muslim.

How’d he get raised as a Christian?
