Not likely. We have at least 100 million narcissists in this country who are totally ignorant of history and political philosophy.

You know what scares me?
A scenario Glide625 outlined this morning. (He and I work for an oil company.)
Imagine that oil becomes a national concern. Its production then becomes a matter of national security. Once the federales realize they’ve put all their qualified personnel into high-pressure jobs like “TSA agent,” they have to keep those of us who already work here.
If no one can do our jobs, the oil won’t get pumped and refined, so we won’t be allowed to leave.
THAT is scary.

It sure does scare the crap out of me. Maybe, I'm just young so I haven't been around long enough to see that the country can actually survive people who have ideas like this *coughcartercough*. This just seems like a whole new level of unabashed calls for socialism, though. And, yes, I don't know that the vast majority of Americans could actually figure out WHY this is bad even if you generously assume they could have an inkling it could be bad idea. *sigh* Guess I'm back to crossing off "having kids" from the list of things to do in the future. At least that puts me back on the same page as my girlfriend.
