That would be much cheaper than paying for the refineries!

If there are a hundred refineries at a half billion each, and 50 refinery owners who each get checks for 50 million cash tax free, plus land and “certain promises” that’s a bargain!

The refinery owners will probably have a sense of history about other “nationalization” schemes.

You bring up a very good point. It seems some ground work is being laid. Personal property rights used to seem fundamental. I guess we’ll have to see what the decision is on 2A. What “right” does the common person have left? Can someone smarter than me put this into some historical context where the US has survived something like this? Is the America I grew up with truly gone?
