Baghdad, Jun 18, (VOI) - A journalist organization on Tuesday said a number of journalists working for local and Arab TV channels were beaten and insulted while covering an event in Baghdad.
About 15 journalists and TV cameramen were beaten and insulted by an army forces stationing at al-Karkh hospital, western Baghdad, said a Journalistic Freedom Observatory (JFO) statement received by Aswat al-Iraq - Voices of Iraq - (VOI). The announcement noted the journalist were accompanying the chief of Baghdad provincial council Mueen al-Kadhimi while he was visiting the hospital to see the people injured in al-Hurriya car bombing.
A row took place between the bodyguards of Baghdad provincial council chief and the hospital's protection army forces, followed by the army forces' rough treatment of the journalists, JFO statement cited Ali Rasheed, cameramen for al-Furat channel, as saying. Rasheed added one of the soldiers tried to grab my camera pretending I was filming the row, then, one of the soldiers hit me, forcing me to kneel and causing my camera to fall along with being insulted.

Looks like we could learn something from how they deal with reporters. But if you insult a reporter does the reporter know it?
Yes the Iraqi soldiers told them the truth.
Which is insulting to them.
Kudos to the Iraqi Army for roughing up media slime. These reporters swarm to attack places (often they probably know about them) despite the ban on filming corpses etc.
The terrorists’ strategy is worthless without the media outlets spreading their message of fear.
>>one of the soldiers tried to grab my camera pretending I was filming the row, then, one of the soldiers hit me, forcing me to kneel and causing my camera to fall along with being insulted.<<
Give the soldier a medal and some liberty leave.
We often treat the media like they are a 4th branch of the Gov’t. They are not.
Was it too hard to find out the name of this 'jouralist organization"?
Is the Iraq army kicking the crap out of Al Jazeera reporters?
If so then this is great news.
"Joey pulled my hair and called me a poophead!"
"She made a face at me first and took my toy!"
What do you call 15 beaten and insulted journalists?
A good start.
How do you insult a journalist? Call them ‘AP’.
The deliberately misleading headlines makes the reader assume it’s the US army that is doing the beating.
Hate-America drive-by media once again.
A punch to the belly is usually effective when dealing with reporters....we are training Iraqi soldiers well!!
I’m ready to do that here.
Can we import this multicultural tradition? Don’t get me wrong, I’m VERY openminded on this one.
It was a number of Al-agencies (not Al-Reuters or Al-Jazeera from what I saw).
“JFO is a Baghdad-based NGO advocating Journalists rights. It works in cooperation with the global Journalists Without Borders organization.”
Actually this is a French named organization “Reporters sans frontieres”.

Fifteen? Sounds like a good start.
Last night on FOX... I saw some embedded journalist(5th Column stooge) report on the activities of a Taliban cell in Afghanistan. I came damn close to throwing a lamp at my new flat screen.
Sounds like the soldier may only be guilty of camera abuse.
Hey, the Iraqi police had given them a fair trial, by Murtha standards. If it’s good enough for Congress, why isn’t it good enough for journalists? This is truly a puzzle.
