MILITARY: Judge dismisses charges against Marine (Haditha)
NC Times ^ | June 17, 2008 | AP

CAMP PENDLETON ---- A military judge has dismissed charges against a Marine officer accused of failing to investigate the killings of 24 Iraqis.

Col. Steven Folsom dismissed charges Tuesday against Lt. Col. Jeffrey Chessani after defense attorneys raised concerns that a four-star general overseeing the prosecution was improperly influenced by an investigator probing the November 2005 shootings by a Marine squad in Haditha.

The charges were dismissed without prejudice, meaning they can be refiled, but Folsom excluded Marine Forces Central Command from future involvement.

Chessani was the highest-ranking officer implicated in the case.

Thanks Red for the nice card. I haven't had so much fun since I put the boot to that snake's rear on Sunday.

funny

Nevermind. Everything I type sounds like I am dissing you Girlene, and the attempt is to throw the The Joint Chiefs under the mower. The thought of mulching them somehow makes me feel GOOD.

I don’t know about that, jaz. I can usually get more than 50 posts on a thread if lily posts 25. But this one is going to hit 400 soon. I’ll have to study your methods....

The more I think about it...
On the other hand....

Stop! You are making me dizzy! LOL!

Maybe a new investigation SHOULD be done...

If they decide to go there then Chessani's team should insist that the bodies be dug up and let's get the forensic evidence that has been sorely missing in this case. Putting men on trial based on rumors from a terrorist and a commie thug reporter is preposterous!

LOL! I've been rabble rousing in the streets too long and hanging out with those military guys to stay in polite company for too long.

You call al-Murthawi despicable. I can't print what I call him! ;*)

That’s a simple matter for Lily, she can do 25 posts on a fifty post thread with her eyes closed. LOL!

The thread title gets the credit today and rightfully so!

Rooney said in the above what I think is a clear offer to the Marines: Chessani says he's going to retire.

In shorthand, "No one's going to try to embarrass you. Let's just let this be over."

What's best for the Marine Corps regarding Lt Col Chessani? I'm clearly on Chessani's side in this, but if I were a spiritual advisor to the head of the Marine Corps, I'd say, "It's time to let it go."

In "The Outlaw Josie Wales" at the end of the movie

[Fletcher knows he's talking to Josey Wales]
Fletcher: I think I'll go down Mexico and find him.
Josey Wales: And then?
Fletcher: I'll give him the first move. I owe him that much. I think I'll tell him the war is over. What do you say... Mr. Wilson?
Josey Wales: I reckon so. We all died a little in that damn war.

“This should have a profound impact on the Wuterich case, I would think.”

I hope so.

Now I want to know who is going to reimburse these marines for the legal fees they had to spend to defend themselves for defending themselves.

I’d like to see a special bill put in to Congress for that purpose. I’d like to see what Murtha does with it.

If there was unlawful command influence.....

...shouldn't there be a MAJOR investigation as to what that was about?? How can that just remain a secret???

“And we should send Murtha in email every week for the duration of the WOT to let him know we DO NOT forgive him - and suggest he should ‘deploy’ to Okinawa and send him paper letters that pile up on his desk - makes a bigger impression - (send to his PA office - anything sent to DC will be super delayed due to continued screening.”

I have a better idea. Send all these Marine’s legal fees to him and let him pay them.

This should have been stopped without any charges.
