Yes, it's truly scary. You gotta be a Catholic Cowgirl, Justa. I never heard that expression until I married into a Catholic family.
Keep your powder dry.
I’m sure the 24% “unsure” are either moderates or Independents. They are waiting for the MSM to tell them what it means, or are too busy with fantasy baseball or American Idol at the moment.
What about windfall profits tax on campaign contributions? Contributions over the set wages of the job applied for should be taxed at at least 50%. Contributions have to be the ultimate windfall.
The thread has officially gone from scary to depressing for me.
Let’s be fair... Ms. Waters talked about “socializing” the oil industry, not nationalizing it... Showing that she is both stupid and misguided — but then again, that might be a good description of this large percentage of the US populace that seems to agree with nationalizing. It proves that demagogury works, especially with a dumbed-down public.
Communism nationalizes all assets and runs the companies.
Fascism controls the companies through red tape and regulations without actual ownership.
Yes, the Left--and the Democrat Party, its Political Machine--are a magnet for sociopaths and morons.
I agree with you. How does one report, “...29% of voters favor...” an issue and start the next sentence with, “Just 47% are opposed...?” Clearly the pollster has an agenda.
Unbelievable. Can you even imagine the result? Only trained government unionized employees can pump gas. Sometimes they go on strike. “Fill out this form please”. Show multiple ID. “I’m sorry, but our records show you have used more than your quota.” “Our data shows you don’t NEED premium gas.”
The stupid public already believes that we have replaced oil. Just by forcing the public to drive a hybrid or a bicycle is all that is left to do.
For them, oil only makes gas for cars; We just don’t need it anymore, because the Democrats and the media said so.
I’ll concede that they use different routes to achieve the same effect - centralized control of production and reduced individual liberty.
But it’s still collectivism. I’ll guarantee you that Marxine Waters couldn’t explain the difference, and she probably prefers the fascist route, as it’s more sneaky.
They would prefer that we were forced into public transportation -
this removes our freedom to travel where we want to and restricts us to where they allow us to.
>>Ms. Waters talked about socializing the oil industry<<
I wonder if she intends to make them play well with others.
Whenever someone is touting collectivism, I ask them what incentive would anyone have to do their best under such a system.
The dumbest answer I ever got was “well, what incentive do you have to do your best under a capitalist system?”
Very revealing of the mindset - messed up as a pile of hangers.
I was scared and depressed at a glance at the headline. I still am—but, if there’s a good side to this, it’s that we’re smarter than they are and will continue rising to the top. That said—I really don’t want to have to deal with a bunch of overempowered sociopaths and an army of morons who are under their control, but this is the promise of the Left, of the Democrat Party, and of the Marxist autocracy that is their vision of the future.
That might work in Europe, where it is wall-to-wall city.
But in Amerika, the heartland is what drives this economy. This stupidity will shut this country down instantly.
The Oil companies will leave and turn their highly complex equipment over to the Government to try figure out for themselves. It will be comical to watch them scratch their “we-have-all-the-answers” heads as they attempt to “legislate” them into production.
sobering statistic .... g’morning ducky ...
Historically under collectivist governments, when the producers are told to produce without compensation and they stop producing - they are executed as “hoarders”.
