Kansas Senator Pat Roberts has slipped below the 50% level of support in his bid for re-election.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the state found that the Republican incumbent now leads Democratic Congressmen Jim Slattery 48% to 39%. In May, Roberts attracted 52% of the vote and was up by a dozen points. Any incumbent who polls below 50% is considered potentially vulnerable. The race is particularly interesting given that Kansas has not elected a Democratic senator since 1932.

Get yourselves some shovels, cause’ we’re in deep s**t!
I am mad as hell at Pat Roberts, but not mad enough to vote for Jim Slattery.
Slattery will be very lucky to break above the low 40s.
I just saw a poll on Hannity and Colmes that had McCain tracking about the same over Obama...and no one thinks Obama is going to win Kansas.
Yeah but look at the favorables. Roberts is at 60% I believe while his opponent is at 48% (I’m going on memory here). This isn’t as close as it looks.
No we're not. Roberts will win re-election easily.
Rasmussen is manufacturing news now.
Exactly.
Jim Slattery is a very famous and likeable Dem, so that is why this will be a race.
But, he will lose.
