For a long time I can’t figure out why President Bush doesn’t do this. If Clinton can rope off millions of acres of prime coal property in Utah (”stroke of the pen, sign into law...pretty cool”) - why can’t Bush do the opposite with ANWR and elsewhere?

For a long time I can’t figure out why President Bush doesn’t do this. If Clinton can rope off millions of acres of prime coal property in Utah (”stroke of the pen, sign into law...pretty cool”) - why can’t Bush do the opposite with ANWR and elsewhere?

Either he and a sizable portion of congress have been bought off by OPEC etc, OR we as a nation are being blackmailed to remain dependent on foreign oil. But Bush has been a failure on of the highest order on foreign trade. His most preferred trading partners are among the ones giving us the most problems. He demands nothing of Mexico to stop illegals. He says nothing to China when they send tainted goods here. Not that McCain or Obama will be an improvement but rather they likely work for the same owners also.
