Man kills baby and is shot to death by police
San Francisco Chronicle ^ | june 15, 2008 | Demian Bulwa

A young Turlock man parked a pickup truck on a dark country road outside his Central Valley city Saturday night, removed a baby boy from a car seat and then viciously beat the child in the street, fighting off passersby who tried to stop him until he was fatally shot by a police officer whose helicopter landed in a nearby pasture, police said today.

The 27-year-old suspect died immediately where he fell. The child, who according to police appeared to be 12 to 24 months old, was rushed to a hospital but was soon pronounced dead as well.

Police officials declined to identify the man this morning and said they did not yet know who the child was - or what his relationship was to his attacker. No information was immediately available about the baby's mother.

The suspect "had tunnel vision," said Stanislaus County sheriff's deputy Royjindar Singh, a department spokesman. "As people tried to intervene, to tackle him, he just went back to what he was doing. Anything and everything he could do to the baby, that's what he was doing."

I understand exactly what you are saying and I agree. It is just so frustrating that these guys seem to accomplish what they attempt in front of a crowd. Meth / PCP and others are a true plague.

Good that the cops shot the SOB. Too bad they couldn’t have took him out in time to save the baby, though. I imagine the devil had a nice homecoming all arranged for the scum when he busted through the gates of hell.

No one on FR objects when cops do what cops are supposed to do. When we object is when they’re acting as the enforcement arm of an unConstitutional tyranny. I can see why you’d be confused, it’s such a fine line.

What a magnificent post. So very true. All we can do is pray. As we always say...some people are sick with mental problems. Others are just plain mean by choice. They live with the devil inside them every single day and they relish the fact they do. They are evil...add a d and you get devil. They go hand in hand. Both relish in the suffering of others but children? That I cannot even think about. They will pay. I wish we could see it but...they WILL pay.

Re: Post #65, Well put! Thanks for your insight.

I have never encountered a 'cop-hater' at FreeRepublic.

The're here. They tend to be from the libertarian side. The cop haters are offset by the cop lovers who believe that cops can do no wrong.

On the other hand, I've seen both good cops and corrupt cops, so I find both sides misguided.

Libertarians?!! There are libertarians and cop haters here at FreeRepublic?

With your diligent finger-pointing, and sensitive nature; I'm hopeful we can purge these sorts from our midst.

I’m not in a position to purge anyone. If you have any complaints about the makeup of FR, talk to the management, not me.

“Dead eyes” ping.

I'm sorry I mocked your finger pointing, sensitivity, and metrosexual nature.

Please accept my heartfelt apology.

I’ll accept it with the very same sincerity with which it is offered.
