Thanks for the encouragement and prayers. Your mom sounds like quite a charachter, very feisty like my mom. I saw my mom today and she seemed much better. Apparently the bone wasn’t broken clear through and they have it immobilized. It will have to be that way for a week and surgury isn’t needed. She lives at a retirement community which has a health center where she will stay for probably a week and then go back to her apartment with some help and therapy. She has a great attitude. With that and some prayers I think she will be fine soon. Again everyone, thanks for the prayers, I know they helped!
That's great news about the fracture and not a full break. That was what happened to my Mom and her pelvic bone. It will be sore and it needs to "knit," but as soon as possible she has to do as much as she can and let the pain be her guide as to how far to push herself. SHE RESTS, SHE RUSTS - the scar tissue will take over and she will become stiff. It's good to keep asking her on a 1-10 scale, what is her pain level. You want to keep it around 2 and 3, if possible. 4 is too much, and she should be taking a Tylenol Extra Strength about 30 minutes before using it, and icing it a bit after her exercises. Her Physical Therapist should have some exercises for her to do. Oh, and my Mom also took Aleve because it's an anti-inflamatory.
Keep me posted and give her a big hug from me!
