Alito wasn't a solid pick--not until after the Mier fiasco, which took massive outrage (cards, letters, emails, phone calls) to correct.

I'm not revising anything. The historical fact is he first chose Mier which was strongly rebuked and turned up with Alito who is a solid judge.
The historical fact is under President Bush Roberts and Alito were confirmed as justices.
