Why is there a professor of Islamic law at the U. of Minnesota? Rather a bad use of taxpayer funds at best.
I would revoke their US citizenship and give them 30 days to return back to Somalia.
I have a lot of friends in MSP so I visit there quite often, and every once in a while I will layover there. I’ve had quite a few negative experiences with them. I’ve had Somali taxi drivers try and rip me off by taking me by a circuitous route to my destination. The Somalis who work at the airport tend to range from downright mean, to just completely unappreciative. Here’s my generalization for the evening: they are an awful group of people. Thanks Bill Clinton!
Be sure to thank Ted Kennedy everytime you have trouble with one of these people. He is the one who insisted that they be brought to America as refugees.
I do - Muslim culture is incompatible with our way of life and traditions. The people of Minneapolis should be up in arms over this, but unfortunately Minneapolis is the northern version of Berkeley.
Funny is that Mission Tortilla is a Mexican business. I find that it is just ironic that a company that support ILLEGAL IMMIGRATION can’t handle other immigrants who refuse to assimilate.
So we have to destroy the free society in order to save it? Suppress those you are suspicious of? I think we show our strength by tolerating them and at the same time not changing our own ways just because they insist we do.
When I was growing up I had a whole raft of older immigrant relatives who refused to give up the foods of their homelands, the orthodox religions of their homelands, and insisted on speaking Serbian among themselves at family gatherings. Yet all their kids and grandkids drifted away from the old ways and adopted American values and ideals. You forget that these are immigrants. Then next generation is the one that will assimilate, and the one after that even more so. That has always been the way in this country.
And your solution is what? Round them up and put them in detention camps? Deport each and every one of them? Even if they were born here? Is your faith in this country that weak, and your fear of what you don't understand that strong?
My solution would be to tell them to obey our laws and respect our traditions or take a hike. These people are not the idyllic immigrants of yesteryear.
Deport each and every one of them?
Let them stay and decimate our values and further the Balkanization of this land? If it has to come to that, yes deportation would be the only answer.
Even if they were born here?
Eisenhower rounded up hundreds of illegals, many who took their children that were born here back to Mexico. That's not my problem.
Is your faith in this country that weak, and your fear of what you don't understand that strong?
Again, immigrants today are not the immigrants of yesteryear. They are not assimilating and they are not respecting our traditions, laws, and values. In fact, we should return to the immigration policy we had before Ted Kennedy ruined it in 1965.
My personal experience with them has been mixed. Some are very friendly, others not so much. I had a Somali cabbie from the airport last week and he was on his phone the entire time - didn't so much as acknowledge me. I'm amazed that he got me home based on how much attention he was paying to the road or where he was going.
Alot of the idea that "past immigrants came to become Americans" is largely a product of post WWII revisionism. As any good historian (or, my grandparents themselves) will tell you, it was World War II that made the children of European immigrants "Americans", and promoted, throughout our society that we are "all Americans, regardless of where our parents are from. Before the war, Italians/Poles/Serbs/Jews, etc. lived lives segregated from the American mainstream.
We would all be better off if people of all faiths acknowledged that their religious beliefs are just that: THEIR religious beliefs. With the multiplicity of faiths (especially the multiplicity of Christian faiths alone) we cannot come to a consensus on a "religious public sphere." Also keep in mind that the fastest growing faith in the United States is that of the NON-religious and unchurched.
Hard to believe that as recently as 1968, nobody cared that Nixon was a heretical Quaker or that George Romney was a pagan Mormon.
Not a chance.
The great grandfather spoke Gallic as a native language.
Within two years of getting off the boat he never spoke it again unless he got real mad. Then it just came out. Kids were forbidden to speak it. English was the language that kids had to know. I dont eat haggis either. Not that I have anything against stuffed sheep stomach. Its just not on the American pallet.
The real deal is this. Europeans and those of European decent and Asians are as different as dirt and water. Together they make nothing but mud. Its best to keep all Asians out. We can stay here. They should stay there. We have enough problems with blacks and whites. Why create even more interracial problems?
Unless of course you like race riots, gang warfare, tong battles, drugs, kinky prostitution, slavery, child slavery and prostitution, disease, have I forgotten any of the things we used to keep out of the country way back when we had borders that meant anything?
I know what to do. Lets just turn the country into one great big open pit sewer. We can have geese and pigs and humans and all the rest of the re-education commune all in one great big mud hut together. Wont that be lovely? We can invent a new disease a year and see how long it takes to start a new plague.
Ill be out of town on business for a week so Ill have to check your comments next weekend. Have a nice evening.
Lutheran Social Services. Doing the "good" the ACLU hasn't gotten around to yet. Kumbiya.
Asians?
Nope. Ted Kennedy. Check out the Immigration Act of 1965, that he co-authored.
The Somali daughter is just jealous because your daughter still has all the private parts she was born with. Probably why her mother’s always in a tizzy, too.
The U.S. should have turned Medina to glass on September 12, 2001 and warned that Mecca was next if they didn’t knock off the crap. Instead we had President Bush all over TV gushing his admiration of adherents of the “Religion of Peace.”
We need to drop the whole PC mindset if we are to retain our freedom. No accommodation to them. If they want to practice their religion, fine, but we should not have to change in any way.
